Q&A - Personal

Some Personal Information About Me:

I am currently a sophomore at Northland Community and Technical College majoring in Liberal Arts. I am also a college athlete playing 2nd base on the softball team. Upon graduation this spring, I plan on transferring to a four-year college to double major in Painting and Photography while pursuing a B.F.A. My plan was to move to Seattle, but then I realized that I would not have much of an opportunity to ride my bikes in such a big city. Needless to say, my plans have changed! Aside from being a full-time student athlete; I also have two part time jobs. Trying to balance all of my activites can get to be very difficult, but I like the challenge! I am a very dedicated person in every aspect of my life. I believe that this is key to promoting sponsors and becoming a better rider.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

I have had my fair share of embarrasing moments in motocross but none have been too bad. My first embarrassing moment came during my first race ever on a cr80. It was my first time lining up and starting from a gate and i had no idea what was going on. I just sat and watched the 30 second board and when it turned to 5 seconds, i dropped the clutch and flipped over! I had so much adrenaline running that i got right up and went on to finish 3rd overall! I did the same thing two races later and finished 3rd overall again! That little embarrassing moment was outweighted by the fact that those were the two best overall finishes of my rookie year!

What inspires you to compete?

First and foremost my main goal is to just have fun. I live my life day to day and live for that adrenaline rush! I am a very competitive person and motocross feeds my need for a competative rush.

Overview

How I got started

One day, a friend of mine let me ride his xr 100 in an open field. I had no idea what I was doing!  At that moment, I decided I wanted to race dirtbikes. I talked to my dad and he found a bike for me. A few days later, I went to go pick up my 1998 Honda cr 80, still not even knowing how to even drive one! I started racing in the summer of 2002 and have not slowed down much since!

Goals for the Future

My first goal for the 2009 season is to race, race race!! I want to hit more races and keep doing well!

I am also looking into getting a 4 stroke and picking up more speed!

My Biggest Accomplishment

I think my biggest accomplishment throughout my racing career thus far was my first points championship title. My second year of racing i worked throughout the season on becoming a better racer and picking up my speed. I showed great improvment throughout the season and consistently finished in the top three. The championship came down to the last race of the season which i won to wrap up my first title. It was a big boost of confidence for me and i moved up to a bigger bike the next season and became even more competitive.
