Messed Up New Years
So I got back to Kauai on the 27th of December after being snowed in at my aunts house in Seattle. Naturally as soon as I got home I wanted to go riding. After hangin out with my family for a few days my brother and I decided to go ride the Kokee Rim Trail. On our first run we were rippin down the mountain in a line, a friend, my brother, then myself. As we approached the mid section of the trail, we hit a three set of jumps. After landing the first jump, I glanced up and saw that my brother's feet came off the pedals and he was headed straight for the second double. I immediately saw him brace for impact as he was hurled over the bars after nose casing the jumps landing. He was thrown into the bushes and yelling in pain. I helped him up and realized he had to go to the emergency room. We took him to the bottom of the trail got the truck and left. When x-rays were taken we found that he broke his collar bone and that it was at an almost 90 degree angle upwards and required surgery and a metal plate to correct. His surgery is scheduled for Jan 20, 2009. Hope everything turns out alright.
