Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
For as long as I can remember I watched Supercross and motocross on TV. I always wanted my own bike to start riding and racing. It didn’t happen until later down the road when my parents surprised me with my own brand new 1999 Honda CR80. They knew right away the determination I had after just one week of riding that this was something I wanted to do. I had a lot of learning to do starting at the age of 14 when most of my competition started much younger. I rode around the yard getting my confidence up until I started racing at the end of 2001 in the mini sr class.
List your competitive highlights:
2001 and 2002 I competed in various races not focusing on a single series. In 2003 I completed the Lake Geneva Stadium mx series where I finished the year 2nd place overall. This was a very exciting year where not only I placed in a series but also earned my first moto win. 2004 I gained a local motorcycle shop as my first sponsor riding one of their brand new 2004 KTM 125sx. Also new this year I was bumped to 125b, a much more competitive class. It only took a few weeks for myself to adapt to the speed I needed to be competitive. I completed the year in 3rd place 12 points behind 1st. I finished in side the top 5 in various classes for 3 consecutive seasons until the closer of the track at the end of the 2006 season. 2005 resulted in a 4th place overall in 125b and a 3rd place overall in 16-24 B. 2006 was my best year to date where I finished first place in both my age 16-24b and skill class 125b. 2007 I finished 4th place in 125A in the Wiscosnin District 16 Triple Cross series.
What are you planning for next season?
After my huge learning experience from my first year in A class I feel have built enough confidence to stay focused for the 2008 series. I plan on competing in a local motocross series called Triplecross. This year I am also expanding my racing exposure into Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
In 2006 I took the 125b and 14-24 B championship in the Lake Geneva Stadium MX series
