So in short this is the story behind our film. Australian elite BMX racer and long time friend Glenn Codega just casually mentioned an idea to follow a few Aussie riders leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Well it didnt take long before we thought it was a good enough idea to invest 12,000 dollars into a high definition camera. With a plan of who we were going to follow and events to cover co-operation was sought from BMX Australia, Cycling Australia and the UCI. Immediate support was put forward which for an idea that was just a month old, momentum was starting to build. Jared Graves, Glenn Codega, Luke Madill, Jamie Gray and Khalen Young were chosen to be featured in the film. We wanted to capture the behind the scenes of the rivalry between the riders in the most competitive period of the sports history. All access was given by the athletes and governing bodies. Since May 2007, our cameras have followed the boys through the the very cliche saying "highs and lows". Coaching fall outs, immense team pressure, broken backs, spleen removals, team car crash, fatherhood, retirements and all the rest has been covered in this BMX racing documentary.
Now that the Olympics are finished with we are busy getting the last few interviews completed before stepping into the editing room. Due to being perfectionists and the pressure of getting this right we are delaying editing until we can get a decent budget to complete the film. We have a vision for the look of the film and it really deserves high quality editing. Both Chantel and i can edit but this needs to be done by a professional. So thats why we are on the Loop'd network, tryin to drum up awareness of our documentary and obtain financial support from the good people in the BMX community, and of course to meet some new friends along the way. I raced myself for many years and although retired along time ago have never been far from the sport. This is my contribution to the sport that gave me so much, an insight to what it really takes to be an elite athlete in BMX racing. Drop us line if you would like to know more and just chat
