What inspires you to compete?
The thrill of going and riding in places I have never been is definately one of the driving factors. I also really like the commraderie at the start line. All the guys are chatting it up until the 30 sec warning, then all goes silent. The focus and determination you see in the racers eyes is amazing. Once we are going, I am driven by other people. If I see someone in front of me, I have to pass them, even if they are not in my class. It makes me work. All in all racing is just an excuse for me to go outside and ride, no matter what the weather.
Some Personal Information About Me:
I`m 5ft 8in, with an athletic build weighing in at around 155lbs. I have dirty blond hair. I am a sophomore at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. I like riding my bike as much as I humanly can. Beyond that I like pretty much anything that gets me outside. Hiking, trail running, canoeing, soccer, sitting alone by a rushing stream, you know, the usual stuff. On the inside, I enjoy watching movies, hanging out with friends, and playing computer games.
Describe your style...
I am the epitomy of a jeans-and-t-shirt guy. I wear sandals in the summer and boots in the winter. My T-shirts are mostly souvenirs I got from various trips, races, or other events. I have no idea where I bought my pants, or other clothing, although I would make a good bet that it was not some place very expensive.
Music?
I love all kinds of music. I grew up around music and most of my extended family makes money off of music somehow. I play trumpet in a copious amount of ensembles at school. I will listen to almost anything nowadays, except for that stuff that has recently come out of the cookie-cutter recording studios. No originality at all. Oh and most modern rap, don't really like the messages that sends, or the lack of good beats. I love playing jazz and funk on my horn, and I do a lot of homework to classical music.
Why do you compete?
I have always been competitive. Racing is just another way for me to let off steam. It shows me my fualts and strengths and lets me take my mind off the pressures of everyday life. I like being able to measure my success against someone else. I also like simply riding fast.
