I have known my husband my entrie life. Our families have been friends for decades. We have helped coach eachother over the years and our love for running and eachother goes hand in hand. I love this man beyond words.
Joseph Marshall is my oldest son. He is 3 years old, born 10/6/2004. Anthony Jay is my youngest son. He is almost 9 months old, born 4/16/2007.
I am in love with my life!!!!
Why do you like this sport?
I LOVE this sport because it is a personal challenge. I like being able to depend only on myself to do great or to win. I don't want to have to depend on others to do well also.
What inspires you to compete?
My inspriation to compete comes from myself and my family. I have a wonferdul husband who has taught almost everything I know about running and competing. Because of running I may not have ever met him, fell in love with him and married him. He has been my training partener and coach for nearly 8 years now. He is an inspiration to me and his belief in me and the support he gives me pushes me even harder to acheive my goals.
I have two beautiful children who also inspire me. Children are so full of life, so happy, so energetic. They have such big dreams. They inspire me to make all of my dreams come true and to life my life to the fullest.
Coaching young women has also been an inspiration to me. Little do they know that as mush as I inspire them, the do the same for me. To see them scheive their goals and make themselves proud give me great enthusiasm. They make me want to push myself further and harder to be just that much better. So that they have even more to look up to.
Last by not least I am an inspriation to myself. I have made myself proud on so many levels and over come such obsticals in life that I refer to life as a race. There may be hills and valleys. You may trip and fall but you always get up and never quit. There will be good points and bad. In the end it's all about how you run the race. You can do the very best you can or you can jog the whole thing. But who ever want to finish last...? Not me!
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I am always training! I never really take time off. Running is a part of daily life for me. I run every day with usually 1 day off a week. My runs currect consist of all upper tempo running. I very rarely go easy and long. I am trying a different philosophy, and it is working very well for me. I am running at a faster pace than normal, or that I have run in the past and am building miles onto it. I am hoping to be ready to run a marathon in the late spring this year and actually compete in it, not just run it.
Describe your style...
My style is very different than most runners. I am very intense. Very serious and emotional about what I do. I take every run and put my entire heart and sould into it. I try to run as if it will be the last time, everytime. I like being intense about it. It makes me more driven and more inspried each and every time I run. I like to push my self as hard as I can.

About Me: Running and Competition
How did you get started?
I began running in Junior High. I was part of my school's Track program. I fell in love with the sport and have been running ever since!
List your competitive highlights
In high school I was a varsity runner all 4 years in cross country and track. I was a scholar athlete and I was also all conference, all region and all state.
I was offered a scholarship to run in college and took advantage of the opportunity. I ran, completed and competed in my 1st marathon at the age of 19 in Detroit Michigan. I have won a total of 10 races in my career from the 800m all the way up to a 10K in distance.
What are you planning for next season?
I have taken on the challenge and am currently training for the 2012 Olympic Trials Women's Marathon. I will be training and racing for this for the next 5 years.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment was running my 1st marathon at the age of 19. I take great pride in the fact that I could acheive such a difficult goal at such a young age.
Another one of my biggest accomplishments has been coaching and inspiring young women to become life long runners.
