What inspires you to compete?
My father inspired me to compete. My grandfather raced boats when he was younger and he passed the desire down to my father and then to me. It was never a matter of if I would race it was what I would race. I started riding when I was eight years old and wanted to race from the very first time.
Why do you like this sport?
Motocross gives me a sense of accomplishment. I am able to do something that not many people can. I enjoy the feeling that I get from the excitement of the race. What I have always enjoyed the most though is that it is a family event. My parents still come watch me race and enjoy the day out after 23 years at the track. Not very many families have that time together. You can not get better friends than you get at a motocross track.
Some Personal Information About Me:
I am a married self-employed business man. I enjoy skiing, mountain biking and spending time with my wife Debbie, daughter Makenzy and our families. Debbie and Makenzy attend all of my races. For us it is a fun family event each weekend.

Describe your style...
My style is very fluid and calculated. I am not one to ride over my head. When I jump I prefer to fly with control and body English to keep myself low and get back on the ground. Very rarely will you see me brake check to correct the bike. I like to be smooth and use my body positioning to land smoothly on the downsides of jumps.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
As a 37 year old I have no choice but to try and improve my body. My current training involves weight training three days a week with cardio in some form on the others. I have a Concept II rowing machine that I like to use inside the house and a mountain bike that I ride as well. During the race season I get less aggressive with the weights and concentrate more on cardio. I try to practice two to three times a week when the weather allows. It can get on the snowy side during the winter around my area!
