What inspires you to compete?
One of the main things about competition is that it drives me to train harder and gives me benchmarks for improvement. I want each progressive race and season to be better than the last, and competition drives me to set goals to acheive this.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
In the off-season, I do upper body strenght 2 days/week, and lower body up to 2 days/week (cardio really hits my legs, so I don`t always train lower body). I go pretty high repetitions, but strive to go to failure each set. I also do core strength training about 3 days/week, and cardio around 5 days/week (various modalities including MTB, in-line skating, elliptical, jogging, etc).
As the weather warms up and the racing season begins, I taper off some of my strength workouts, shorten and intensify my cardio workouts, and spend more time on the ski.
How's Life Treating You?
Life`s awesome! I love it...just wish I could get rid of this pesky thing called work. Oh, all the time that I would have for training if I didn`t have this day job to pay the bills. ;-)
Employment / Experience Summary
My "day job" is occupational health and safety. It`s my job to keep my co-workers healthy and safe from on-the-job hazards. I`ve been doing this for several years now.
