Overview

How I got started

I watched motocross on TV for a few years and got the urge to go try it. I bought a `96 CR125 in 1998. Played around on it for a year or two and then upgraded to a new 2000 CR125. I started racing in 2003 and I`ve been hooked ever since.

Goals for the Future

I plan on hitting next season hard. In Alaska we have a state series and then each club hosts individual city series. I plan on racing each event of the state series (10 races) and then 3 city series. It will end up being about 30 races over a 4 month period, so almost every weekend I`ll be lining up at a gate somewhere.

Bio

Why do you like this sport?

The appeal for me in motocross is the fact that it`s man and machine against the track and the other riders. I`ve competed in competive sports my whole life, but there is very few out there that require the personal dedication that motocross does. What happens on the track is directly or indirectly all on yourself. They say in anything you get out of it what you put in and that`s definately the case in mx.

Describe your style...

I`ve never tried to imitate another rider on the track, but I do try to ride as smooth as possible every time I`m on the bike. I grew up watching MC, so his smoothness and flash is definately something that is in my mind when I ride.

Competitive Highlights

2004 I ran the Vet Novice class in the Alaska State Series. I had a lot of time on the bike coming into the season so knew I could do well. I ended up taking 3 overalls in 6 races before getting hurt and ending my season. What stands out for me is that I was on a 125 racing against 250F`s, 250 2-strokes, and 450F`s but I knew at the gate that even though I wasn`t going to get the best start, I could still make my way through the pack.
