What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Taking my qualifying run at the 2004 US Open too conservatively and missing qualifying by a thousandth of a second. My friends were as stunned as me. Always try to do your best - lesson learned.
Describe your style...
After the Mad March Racing Camp everything has changed. Learning the proper techniques to focus on helps a lot. Smoother is faster - but still learning.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
This year I am training with the Ultimate MTB Strength Training System by James Wilson combined with a lot of road riding and cross country riding every week. Two days a week on strength training and 4-5 days a week on the bikes. I'm riding really strong and I'm looking forward to the start of the season to see if all the hard work has payed off.
Why do you compete?
Progression, knowing that I keep getting better and faster each year which makes riding all the more fun. Racing drives me to levels of riding I never imagined I would achieve. Also, all the friends and people I have met at the races. The people I can help and the people that have helped me over the years.
Other Racing Interests
I run a 1994 Mazda Miata in the northern New Jersey SCCA autocross events. There is nothing like pinning a light nimble car around a tight aggressive course. This crosses over to my DH racing in being able to read lines, execute my planned run, and keep my head together when things don't go as planned.
