Q&A - Competition
How did you get started?
I started snowboarding when i tried it on a little sled hill by my house, I saw an opportunity to compete and took it, been doing it since.
List your competitive highlights:
Getting invited to the USASA nationals this year 3 times.
What are you planning for next season?
Im changing from boardercross to slalom and grand slalom, so hopefully to win my local comps, get invited to nationals, and go from there. Also trying to get on the Nor-Am cup thing.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Havent got there yet...hopefully 2010...if not...2014...
Q&A - Personal
What inspires you to compete?
I think that the fact that I broke my neck in practice for a national competition and very well could've lost the ability to walk or live, much less snowboard probably makes me want to compete that much more. Plus I like traveling and winning.
Why do you like this sport?
I've been addicted since I strapped on a cheap K-Mart board at the local sledding hill 10 years ago. I love the fact that I can still be who I want to be and compete...plus now they actually think girls are cool in this sport.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I really try to train all year...but it usually doesnt happen, I'm an EMT so I get quite a workout from that, but when season starts approaching, I start taking lots of time out every day to stretch and run or hit the weight room or pool.
Music?
Whatever catches my ear, If I hear it and like it, I usually find some way to listen to it.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
An Olympian. Getting my Paramedic would make my dad happy. I have wilderness EMT in mind first.
