Q&A - Self Interview

Why do you like watercross?

This sport is perfect for me! I'm on the smaller side and it is easier for me to compete with kids my own age. We live on a lake and it makes for a fun summer. My whole family is involved!

What would you like to change about the sport?

I wish the entries weren't so high. We provide all the gear and the boats, yet the promoters continue to charge $45.00- $85.00 per class per day! It's kind of a bummer when you pay so much money for a plaque.

What do you like the most about this sport?

Definately the people! Jerry Schmidt, Jamie Deere, and my stepdad Randy Emrick, plus countless other people have changed my life! I can't wait for next season to begin! Everyone is so helpful and encouraging. I started to get into motocross, which was very clicky. Everyone is like family in watercross, whether you are racing at a local or national level.

Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

My stepdad Randy Emrick started racing watercross in 07. I watched all year. In Celina, Oh. we bought Jamie Deeres boat, and at the last race of the season I decided to give it a try. I loved it! It was in St. Ignace, Mich. on Lake Huron. There were some big waves!

List your competitive highlights:

2008 Region 6 Champion- Stock 10-12, 2008 Monster Energy Midwest Watercross Champion-Stock 10-12, 2008 APBA HydroTurf National Watercross Tour Champion 3rd-Stock 10-12, 2008 APBA HydroTurf Watercross Nationals 4th-Stock 10-12

What are you planning for next season?

Next season I will be moving up to the 13-15 age group. They offer a stock class as well as a limited. My stepdad and I are discussing my options on a new stock boat. I may run his boat in the limited class. We are waiting to see what the new rule changes may be.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Finishing top 3 at the national level and winning my class at the regional level and on the Monster Energy Midwest Watercross Tour all in my first year of racing!!
