MX Racing Results May 2009
Hello there Sponsors,
Well it's summer break for the Southern California's AMA District 37 Big 6 GP's. A time to put in some practice and an opportunity to be that much better when racing resumes in October. During the summer I will be entering some Personal Watercraft races at Lake Elsinore CA.
OK, to wrap up the last two rounds of the Big 6 GP's... we'll start off with Rd #3 at 29 Palms. In the Nov. Hwt. 4-Stoke class I got a great start and was battling for 2nd place for most of the race... Not soon after I broke away and was pulling on the rider in 1st, I over shot a deep sandy berm and went off the track... when I went to get back on to the track I stalled the bike... very bad on a hot CRF 450... needless to say by the time I got the bike fired back up I ended up in 11th place.. I was pretty bummed out... In the Nov. Vet class I got a the worst start ever.. dead last... It took about 5 kicks before I was on my way.. by that time I was the only one standing there on the line... I was very pissed off... I passed about half the my class in the first lap and kept passing riders until the checkered flag flew... I ended up finishing 6th out of 24 riders in my class.
Rd #4 was held at a brand new venue for the Big 5 GP promoters... Primm Nevada... which is on the state line from California to Nevada about 30 miles from Las Vegas... This was a very fast track like 29 Palms was... You definitely want to stay one gear up on the front sprocket to keep that top end speed up. The Nov. Hwt 4-Stroke class was tough.. the track was completely beat up from all the riders in the earlier races. It was just a battle to finish the race... Since it was a live engine start everyone was off the line at the same time... I got an OK start about 5-6th... After digging the front end in the volkswaggon size sand woops 3 times I finished in 6th place. The next day was a little easier in the Nov. Vet class, but I think I got a little too excited from my whole shot start and slid out in the first turn that they totally overwatered.. once again dead last again... It was the same story as 29 Palms except I ran out of time in this race and finished 8th place...
My current standings are:
Nov. Hwt. 4-Stroke Class.. 3rd place.
Nov. +30 Vet Class.. 3rd and 16th overall in the entire Vet Class.
I want to thank all of my sponsors for all the help the give to us amateur racers and make it possible for us to afford to go out there every other weekend race and have fun doing it... Thanks again...
I want to put out special thanks to Mark Sheffield at Riva Motorsports and the guys at Factory Effex for helping me out with my graphics this season.
