2007 Grand Nationals

My family and I headed to the Grand Nationals in Duquoin, IL on June 29, 2007. We arrived at the fairgrounds around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday, we spent time together with our racing families and got prepared to watch the mile on Sunday. On Sunday, the Addison’s and the Ward’s headed over to the mile race, WOW what a Hugh track; I cannot wait to ride the mile. Monday morning came bright and early. I placed 4th on my 50 cc Sr bike, due to clutch problems and 2nd on my 65 DTX bike on the 1/2 mile race. On Tuesday, I had a bad day, crashed in the heats, and had to start on the penalty line. I placed 9th on the 50 cc and 8th on my 65cc on the short track race. Wednesday we had a big July 4th celebration, it was cool to have a meet and greet with Kenny Coolbeth. On Thursday, I placed 3rd on my 50 cc and 6th on my 65cc during the TT race. I went to bed early and prepared myself for Friday on the ½ mile. Friday morning, I rode awesome on the ½ mile. I placed 1st on my 50 cc and was running second on my 65cc, took the white flag and crashed in turn 2, sliding her out. Foot peg got me. LOL. I was trying so hard to catch Michael Lainhart out of NY who was in 1st place. I almost had him. Overall, it was a great week of racing. I am officially ranked fourth in the Nation on my 50 cc bike, 6th in the Nation on my 65 DTX bike and 12th in the Nation on my 65 MOD bike, which I only raced on Friday.

Special Thanks to Ray Rees and his family for being there to support the entire Jet Racing Team and BIG thanks to Cody for all his help in making sure my bikes were up in staging so I could jump off one and right onto another.

My teammate, Jeffery Lowery received the Fast Brain Award, WOW that was cool. He did very well during the Nationals, ended up first in the 65 MOD with 15 stitches in his abdomen from a crash Tuesday on the Short Track and seeing JR on his first national podium was GREAT!

Tyler and Justin, you raced your hearts out and did very well overall.
