My dad and I traveled to Lawrenceburg, Indiana on Friday, August 24th, 2007. It was very hot, around 95 degrees. As soon as we got there, I walked around to find my racing friend, Cody Chisham but he was not there.  In practice, I realized I had barely any brakes on my 85 cc. My dad worked on them and made them a little better, they still need some work done on them.

During the heat races, I got 1st on my 65 cc and 6th on my 85 cc. In the final, I got an awesome start on my 65 cc and ended placing 1st. On my 85cc, I got a bad start. I ended up placing 5th as I got a little faster as the day went on.

As soon as our finals were over, Jeffery Lowery and I made paper airplanes and continues to watch the rest of the races.

My racing friend, Jim Beck took a hard crash during his finals. He was ok, just a little sore.

On Saturday, my mom, dad, and I headed to Lancaster, Ohio to race with the AHRMA racers. I raced both the 65 cc and the 80 cc classes. In the heat on my 65 cc, I got 1st and ended up first in the main. During my 80 cc heat, I was on the starting line beside Tyler Butts when he and I got together and I went down, busting my lip. They red flagged the race and I had to start on the penalty line. I ended up fourth in the heat and third in the main out of five riders.

This was my first time at the Lancaster track. It was very hot; the track crew did a very good job keeping the track watered.

Robert Litten crashed hard coming out of turn four. My family and I are hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks to the AMA and AHRMA for inviting us to race with them at Lancaster.

Thanks to my sponsors for their continuous support during 2007.

Saturday morning, my mom, dad, myself and my friend Chase, who’s Dad owns Sideliners, headed to Marion, Ohio to race. There were no 65 cc so I ended up racing in the 80 cc and 100 cc class.   It was a battle with Cody Willison and me in the 100cc class. My friend Tyler Tudor and I were chasing each other battling for position in the 85 cc final for 5 laps until he got more corner speed coming out of turn 4 on the last lap and pulled me down the straight away. Sunday, in the heat, the JET Racing 150 broke when JR was racing in 1st place position, JR ended up riding his 80 in both final classes. He ended up 3rd and I ended up 4th in the 80 cc class. In the final,  JR was a quarter of a straight away ahead of me I took 5th in the 100cc class, riding faster and catching up with the front riders each time I race the 80cc. Ray’s mom, sister, and niece came to watch the team race and my mom shared pictures with her.  It was nice to see them all!

My family and I headed to the Grand Nationals in Duquoin, IL on June 29, 2007. We arrived at the fairgrounds around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday, we spent time together with our racing families and got prepared to watch the mile on Sunday. On Sunday, the Addison’s and the Ward’s headed over to the mile race, WOW what a Hugh track; I cannot wait to ride the mile. Monday morning came bright and early. I placed 4th on my 50 cc Sr bike, due to clutch problems and 2nd on my 65 DTX bike on the 1/2 mile race. On Tuesday, I had a bad day, crashed in the heats, and had to start on the penalty line. I placed 9th on the 50 cc and 8th on my 65cc on the short track race. Wednesday we had a big July 4th celebration, it was cool to have a meet and greet with Kenny Coolbeth. On Thursday, I placed 3rd on my 50 cc and 6th on my 65cc during the TT race. I went to bed early and prepared myself for Friday on the ½ mile. Friday morning, I rode awesome on the ½ mile. I placed 1st on my 50 cc and was running second on my 65cc, took the white flag and crashed in turn 2, sliding her out. Foot peg got me. LOL. I was trying so hard to catch Michael Lainhart out of NY who was in 1st place. I almost had him. Overall, it was a great week of racing. I am officially ranked fourth in the Nation on my 50 cc bike, 6th in the Nation on my 65 DTX bike and 12th in the Nation on my 65 MOD bike, which I only raced on Friday.

Special Thanks to Ray Rees and his family for being there to support the entire Jet Racing Team and BIG thanks to Cody for all his help in making sure my bikes were up in staging so I could jump off one and right onto another.

My teammate, Jeffery Lowery received the Fast Brain Award, WOW that was cool. He did very well during the Nationals, ended up first in the 65 MOD with 15 stitches in his abdomen from a crash Tuesday on the Short Track and seeing JR on his first national podium was GREAT!

Tyler and Justin, you raced your hearts out and did very well overall.

June 2007

Lawrenceburg, Indiana

My dad and I traveled to Lawrenceburg, Indiana on Friday. I went out to practice, and crashed right off the bat on my 50cc.  I bent the handlebars and busted my lip. While racing in the heats, I got a bad start on my 50 cc and charged hard to pass everyone and getting my pick on the line for the finals. I ended up getting fifth in the 85 cc class on my Suzuki RM 65.  Overall, I placed first in the 50cc, first in the 65 cc. It was nice to see my friend, Cody Chisham and Rick Tibbits who I miss racing with in Ohio.

June 2007

Galion, Ohio

My dad and I headed to Galion on Saturday. They disk the track and it was rough. I ended up placing 1st in the 50 Sr class and 1st in the 65 class. I wish they had not disk the track as they did. The track was nice and smooth a few weeks earlier when I raced there, it was cool seeing my friend, J R from our Jet Racing Team out there on the track riding very well in his classes and placing 1st in his heat race.

June 2007

Waterford, Ohio

My dad and I traveled to Waterford, Ohio and attended the Pioneer Motorcycle Club Hill Climb. We talked to some of the 50 cc riders from all over Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia. I took my Honda XR 50 to ride, and the hill was about 225 feet and had two steps. On my first run, I made it over the first step and half way up the hill and flipped over backwards. I ended up 81ft up the hill, not bad for my first hill climb.  My second run, my dad told me how to get a better run up the ill, it was dark, and the lights were one. Having the lights on, really helped myself and all other riders to see the track, it was cool riding under the lights.  I made it up and over the first step, headed towards the second step, started sliding back on the seat and wheeled over backwards at 96 ft. Good thing I know when to let go. It was a good time and my dad and I are going to make some changes to my bike and try it again later this year.

Canton, Ohio

2007 Bike Days

Saturday, May 26th, 2007, my family and I headed to Canton, Ohio to race Bike Days 2007. We arrived at the track around 9:30 a.m. Ray, Roy and Jeff were already there and saved a spot for the Wards. Ray rode Tyler’s 450; he did very well for not racing for a while. Jeff Lowery brought the JET Racing CR 85 for me to ride. I was very excited. My dad put me on the CR 85, it was funny, and I could not even touch the ground. We even lowered it down. My dad had to hold me on the line in order to race. A few racers thought my dad was riding with me. My friend Hunter joined us for the weekend. The sky’s looked like it was going to rain both days.

On Saturday, I got 1st on the 65 cc and ended up 9th out of 17 riders on the JET Racing CR 85, not bad for my first ride. After the races, J.R. got out his football and we played for a while, it was fun.

Sunday, we woke up to a sky that was beautiful. Right after the heats, we got a down pore of rain and all 15 of us ended up in our camper. It was hot in there with all those people in there. I was so glad to see the rain stop and us be able to race.

During the main event, I started on the second line on the 85cc. As soon as I took off, rider number 25 out of New York and J.R got tangled up, he went down and I had nowhere else to go but to run into the bike. Thank god, we were both OK. We restarted the race and by the time the race was over, I had moved up to 6th place, my mom was freaking out. A mother of another rider was providing my mother step by step on my position throughout the entire race, as she could not watch. She was so excited when the race was over and was very proud to see how well I did on the 85cc for the very first time.

Thanks to the Wells family and the Rispoli family for providing me a seat for the JET Racing CR 85 so I could touch the ground. Big Thanks to Ray for allowing me the opportunity to ride and Jeff Lowery for bringing the bike for me to ride this weekend.

Thanks to Scotty Brown and the Bike Days crew for  putting on such an awesome race.

Friday morning, my family and I headed to Greenville, IL for the North Central Nationals. My Grandpa Stan joined us as well. Friday night we were able to practice on the short track, not many people were there. The track was nice. We camped Friday and Saturday night. Saturday morning we ran the Short Track. I won the 50 cc SR and 65 DTX class. Cody Kent smoked me in the 65 Mod class.

Saturday afternoon we ran the TT portion. The TT had a chicane; it was fast. I won the 50 SR and 65 DTX class.  I probably could have run with Cody Kent but, I got a bad start and by the time I got to second, it was too late. Barry, the announcer stopped by our camper to let me know how impressed he was with me and how amazed he was to see how fast I went for being so little.

Sunday morning my mom gave Barry a JET racing autograph sheet. While Barry was announcing, each time one of our JET Racing team members came onto the track, he shared a few of their overall achievements. It was cool to hear my team member’s names over the PA system while we were racing. Sunday we ran the ½ mile; the track was limestone. Steve Nace and his team worked all day on the track and did a wonderful job keeping the track in very good condition. At the end, the track was great and fast.

I won the 50 Sr and 65 DTX classes. I was looking forward to racing Cody Kent in the 65 Mod class but he locked his motor up and ended up taking third in the ½ mile, giving me 1st place.

Overall, I took first in the 50 Sr, first in the 65 DTX, and missed first in the MOD class by 1 point and ended up second overall in the 65 Mod class.

My dad, mom, Eric Iddings, and I went to Galion on Saturday. It was raining on our way and we were unsure if we were going to be able to race. Around 2:00 o’clock, we were finally given the green light to race. The younger JET Racing team was all there as well as Ray, Grandma Rees, Eddie, Kathy and Aunt Connie and her husband from California.

I raced the 50 SR 7 – 8 and the 65 cc class. I went out for practice and noticed the track was a little bigger than the last time I was there. Sunset Ramblers has made big improvements since the last time I was there. They put gravel in the pits, which was very nice, no more worries about people being stuck in the mud. I look forward to racing as many races as I can this year at Sunset Ramblers located in Galion, Ohio.

I placed 1st in both classes 50 cc SR and 65 cc. The track started out smooth, but as we rode, it got rougher, probably due to it being a brand new surface. I am sure they will work on the track and it will be nice by the end of the season, if not sooner.

Sunday morning my mom received a call from Jeff Lowery telling us about our friend, Ethan Gillim being killed at Paducah in a motorcycle accident. My mom was speechless, she handed the phone to my dad. I was sad when my mom told me about Ethan.

Thanks to following sponsors and special thanks to Sunset Ramblers for putting on such an awesome event.

Ray flew in on Friday and my mom picked him up at the airport. We spent Friday night having dinner at Sideliner’s, one of my newest sponsors. It was nice to have Ray there with us; he got to meet Clint, the owner of the restaurant.  After dinner, we went to Dairy Queen for dessert. We came home Ray and my family watched racing videos from the indoor race in Duquoin, IL. Ray got to see me do a Willie and get 1st place in the 50 cc SR 7 – 8 year old class. On Saturday we headed to Hidy Honda in Troy, Ohio along with the rest of the JET Racing team members, we did an autograph session. Tyler, Justin, Jeffery brought their bikes with the new JET Racing graphics, they look very good. At the end of the day, we presented Hidy Honda with a signed autograph sheet in a frame thanking them for their 2007 support. On our way home Saturday, we stopped by Jack Maxton in Columbus and traded our Dodge truck in for a new 2006 Chevy Cargo Extended Van with a 5 year warranty. Thank god, my mom does not have to worry any more about us breaking down again, if we do, it is covered. Sunday morning we drove to Harpster, Ohio and met Roy and Jr to check out the new track Triangle Motorcycle Club has, it is going to be very nice once it is all set up and running. The track was to muddy, I did not ride.
