  Cortney,

Aloha, it was a pleasure hosting you aboard. Again sincerely appreciate your support of the U.S. Navy. My crew still talks about the "Monster Guy."

My ship and crew are back in Hawaii. We are looking forward to some time off after a 4 month deployment. If there is anything we, USS CHAFEE, can do for you please don't hesitate to let me know. If you have any friends or fans that would like to visit us in Hawaii please let me know. You've got my contact info.

Sincerely,

Commander Heedong Choi, USN
Commanding Officer
USS CHAFEE (DDG 90)

That was a great story and great job on your behalf for helping out by suppling monsters to the crew. I'm sure your Monster sponsor would be proud of your efforts. 5***********************

Simpson-Motorsports, llc. supplied the U.S.S. Chafee with Monster “SIZED” Energy in Everett, Washington.

I was in Seattle, Washington the week of May 26, 2008 and had just received some of my Monster Gear for my Team earlier that day and was wearing a Monster Pit Crew Shirt. As I sit down in my seat at the Mariners/Red Sox game (10th row, behind the dugout) I get to know the other people around me and find out that directly to my right is a guy named John. (I figured he was military with the haircut.) He informs me that he is in the NAVY and was in port for a few weeks after some simulated training in the North Pacific. He also tells me that his “Commander” Heedong Choi is sitting to his immediate right. Commander Choi immediately introduces himself and we get to talking about the military and the Navy and such and he invites me to come and tour the U.S.S Chafee. Anyway to make a long story short Commander Choi starts asking me about Monster Energy drinks. It appears that the members of his crew. (348 enlisted and 30+ officers) pretty much all live on Monster products when at sea. I even hear a story about the flight crew (the Chafee is equipped with 2 submarine hunting helicopters) and how these guys use Monster on the long nights during shifts. SO I tell them that I am a racer and that I am sponsored by Monster Energy brands and that I would like to do something if I can. SO I start making some phone calls and I am able to get 5+ cases of Monster products and some t-shirts and hats, etc.

By 10am the next morning I am being driven through the gates of Everett Naval Base, Everett, Washington. With the commander of the U.S.S. Chafee driving the car and giving me the royal treatment. I walk onto the boat under full salute. (I was not sure if I should salute back, I didn’t want anyone thinking I was military I just shook a lot of hands and gave away the Monster drinks to everyone that came in to the galley area.) We ended up running out of drinks, but I promised to make sure that those that wanted a MONSTER would get one. I was given the royal treatment by Commander Choi, John and another one of his supply officers that was given the unenviable task of taking all of the pictures of me playing on the Destroyer. I had the chance to meet and greet everyone and as I walked around the ship everyone from midshipman to officers were drinking the Monster that was given to them just minutes before. I cannot thank the crew of the U.S.S. Chafee enough for making a dream come true and for fighting to make sure that I have a safe place to race day in and day out. To all the fighting men and women, THANK YOU from Simpson Motorsports for being who you are and come home safe. If you are in the military and I am anywhere near your Fort, Ship, or Station send me and email and I will do all I can to make sure that I stop by and bring some Monster with me to make sure that you know that MONSTER ENERGY is behind you 100%.

Best Regards,
