Getting ready for the 24 hour race - October 18, 2008 Smithville, Texas - Rocky Hill Ranch

Texas Teen Races BAJA for a Cure!

Football? Pass. Baseball? Out. Five hundred miles of extreme desert racing on a dirt bike? Now you’re talking! That’s right, Lake Travis High Sophomore Cody Ard will be racing the grueling 38th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada Mexico on June 3, the day after his 16th birthday. This International Race in Ensenada Mexico will begin 65 miles south of the U.S./Mexico Border.

Relaying the event with his father and Lakeway Texas resident Aaron Ard, the two will attempt to cover a distance of approximately 500 miles within the 17-hour time limit on a Honda motocross bike. "Cody will be one of the youngest competitors to ever race this event," said Sal Fish, President/ CEO of SCORE International.

So what does this have to do with cure-finding? Absolutely nothing. Until now! Cody is inviting YOU to join him as a Cystic Fibrosis cure-finder. He will not only be racing for himself, but for two of his teenage friends as well. “Lizzie and Bailey live with the challenge of CF every day, and this race will be the toughest challenge of my life.” he said. “My goal is to raise a minimum of $3000 in hopes to find a cure. While I attempt to defeat the beast that is Baja, and if people would help me out, I could use my sport to help defeat this disease.”

Cody’s goal is to complete 200 miles of the course. If individuals would sponsor him at just .10 per mile, that would be $20.00 that he could donate entirely to the CF Foundation. That $20 could possibly find the cure. Please sign yourself up with Cody Ard to become a cure-finder. Flat donations of any amount will also be gratefully accepted and your gift is tax-deductible.

If you wish to donate:

**Please send an email to Cody at: Codymx@sbcglobal.net
**Or you may send your pledge through the mail. Checks can be made out to CFF.
Mail to: Attn Cody Ard, 106 Palos Verdes Dr. ~ Austin, TX 78734.

The 2006 Baja 500 will be Cody Ard’s first International race. Cody would like to thank those in advance for those supporting his efforts!

**All donations received will be presented entirely to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. A donation to the CF Foundation will help fund the research and discoveries that are forming the front line of exciting new medical treatments. Our understanding of this disease has rapidly accelerated in the past few years due, in large part, to science supported by the CF Foundation.

**The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is proud to have been recognized by SmartMoney the magazine of The Wall Street Journal, as a charity that "won`t waste your money." CFF has been recognized by the Better Business Bureau. People with CF need your help now more than ever.

It`s official: Race# 201x has been assigned to me for the 2006 38th Annual BAJA 500!
