Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

In high school I quit baseball to ride mountain bikes. Then while stationed in Hawaii, in the Navy. I saw this van with a trailer full of bikes shuttling to the top of the Waimea falls. 3rd place in my first DH race on a hard tail. It was all over from there.

List your competitive highlights:

1998 Hawaii State Champ (expert) 2000 Mammoth NORBA finals 7th Expert, 8th Kamakazi open expert, and I qualified for dual salalom.

What are you planning for next season?

I plan to do as many of the Mountain States Cup as I can. I want to do a couple 12 hr DH races as well.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Being a father.

Q&A - Personal

Why do you like this sport?

I remember quitting baseball and leaving school early just to go ride. So the freedom of riding a bike is why I Love this sport. showing off for friends is fun too.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I do Spin class 3 times a week. I ride my pump track every single day. 3-5 times a week I'm out at the local trails.

What inspires you to compete?

I feel that I am a very competetive person. I always want to do my best at anything I do.

Employment / Experience Summary

In my younger years I was a bike mechanic at a large retail chain. Now I am a paramedic with a very flexible schedule, and better pay. Makes my riding buddies feel more secure.

How's Life Treating You?

I'm happily married and I am a father of three young children. I just recently moved to Colorado. I get to ride way more than I ever have. And now I have a yard big enough for my own pump track. (you should see my 4y/o son)I would say life's pretty OK.
