I raced in the NBL from the late 80’s until 1997. In 1998 I was in my second year of university and was also working at a co-op work placement. I didn’t have enough time to continue racing BMX and continue with my school so I had to make a tough choice and I retired from BMX racing. I had decided that getting my university degree and my professional designation as a Chartered Accountant was my first priority. Now that I have accomplished these career goals, I decided that I was going to return to BMX racing. I started racing at the Ontario Indoor winter series at the Orangeville track in November and I competed in the 9 events of the series over the 2008 / 2009 winter months. I was very happy that I was still able to get a good gate start, but was a bit disappointed with my endurance, but I did notice my endurance improving over the 9 event series. I can’t wait until all the snow melts up here so I can start riding my bike outside. I am very happy with my overall results in this series, finishing #1 in the 15 & over girls class. I was also very happy to see that there are more girls involved now than there were years ago. We actually had 5 girls in our 15 & over class! I am looking forward to racing at the bike show in March and at the outdoor tracks this summer.
