How did you start kayaking?
I started paddling when I was 14 or so at Falling Creek Camp in Tuxedo North Carolina right near the headwaters of the Green River. Back then I remember hiking into the Green river narrows and thinking how I would never kayak that, it's too crazy?. Well 6 years later and I proved myself wrong.
What type of paddler are you? A creeker or a playboater?
Creeker and Playboater, I do it all? As many of the people I paddle with will tell you, I am a very conservative and cautious paddler. I guess that is why I have so much video of cool drops, because for a lot of the video I was portaging and grabbed my video camera to film others.
What are your Local runs?
I am currently a business major at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia where I enjoy local rivers like the New and the Gauley. The rivers and creeks of Georgia are still my home runs.
Future Plans?
Paddling in the Southeast filming "Slave to the Rain"
Any kayaking injuries?
Well I got some stitches at Oceana one year but other than that no serious kayaking injuries. I broke my shoulder in a biking accident and that is how Gravity was created. I needed something to keep my mind off of not being able to paddle for a while so I decided to re-edit a paddling video I won the Tallulah Film Festival with. The re-editing got more and more in depth which left me with the version I have today
Goals for the Future
To complete one of the coolest Whitewater Kayaking videos ever made
