We’ve traveled so far, but were finally here.
We unhitch our trailer and unload the gear.
Waiting in line as my mom pays my fee.
I sit there thinking I need to get some z’s.
As tired as I feel the race must go on.
As I try and hold back that very last Yuan.
I wait the long wait for my race to start.
Only time can tell when its time to depart.
My goggles are fogged from the sweat on my face.
But it’s finally my turn, and I’m ready to race.
When I arrive at the gate I can hardly sit still.
The butterflies have taken over and my stomach feels ill.
The starting line is full, and I’m starting to feel sick.
I’m hoping I can pull off a way cool trick.
Everyone gets ready as they all get warmed-up.
I think its time because the gate went up!
The sound all goes away and we all sit in silence.
You can see the first corner, it’s quite a distance.
Just now the gate drops, and I leave as fast as I can.
I’m not sure what the track is like, I don’t have a plan!
As I glide through the air I clear the long jump.
I slide into the corner, trying to avoid the bump.
We’re finally on our last lap, I’m getting so tired.
There’s a rider behind me, not much one I admire.
The finish line is near, and were side by side.
I try to go faster, but I just can’t find my pride.
I got the flag second so I didn’t get first place.
But i high-five his hand, with a smile on my face.
