How I got started
C. Wan was first exposed to drifting through Japanese Option car videos back in the early 90's. His first time drifting was in a front wheel drive back in '96. During the time drifting was still an underground subculture. Calvin concentrated on developing his racing experience which includes drag racing, autocrossing, rallycross, motorcycles and road racing. In 2002, when the US first started having drifting events he shifted his focus to drifting. In 2005, Calvin became the first driver in the history of Formula Drift to win with an import car in the Falken Tire Infiniti G35. He also has done professional stunt driving for the Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo Drift movie. From becoming one the first US D1 Grand Prix drivers in 2003, to becoming Falken Tire’s 1st US Works driver, he has been a prominent driver in drifting’s history.
Goals for the Future
The 2006 season has been a great success. C.Wan has attended over 20 professional events which includes drifting competitions, drifting demonstrations, road racing, time attack competitions, car shows and trade shows.
Drifting is gaining incredible momentum with increased media exposure along with more events and new drifting organizations exposing the sport to a larger audience. Calvin is planning to attend even more events in 2007. With the Falken G35 dialed from competition in 2006, 2007 is looking very promising.
