How I got started
My best friend growing up had a XR-75 and I wanted a dirt bike so I could be like him. I saved up money and my Dad kicked in half for my first bike....a 1974 MR-50 Honda mini elsinore. What a dream bike! I instantly got hooked to the dirt bike/motocross scene and finally talked my parents into letting me make a track in our yard. I continued to pressure my parents into letting me race motocross and they finally gave in and took me to my first race in August of 1981. I competed in the senior 80 class. Again....I was hooked! I practiced and worked hard to improve my results and learned early that this sport is not easy. You get out of it what you put in!
In 1984, I started racing 125s in the 125 "B" class and continued to improve my results including winning multilple races and consistantly finishing in the top 10 in District points. My final year in the 125 "B" class was 1987, were I won the Indiana District 15 Indiana State Championship Race and Final overall points Championship that year. I was then moved up to the "A" class where I have been competing for the last 19 years and I am still "hooked" on the sport to this day at 40 yrs. old!!
Goals for the Future
I am turning 40 Years old in December and I am going to concentrate on winning a 40+ "A" Year-end Points championship along with our State Championship Race Series in District 15. I am also considering to to Loretta Lynn`s for the first time to experience that. I also enjoy helping younger riders out and supporting our local tracks.
