Q&A - Competition
List your competitive highlights:
1. won my age group in my first ever race at Topeka Tinman
2. qualified for age group nationals
3. went sub 40 minute 10k at Kansas City Triathlon
What are you planning for next season?
Continue to race faster, get stronger and faster in the water. Compete to win my age group, and compete for overalls at my focus events.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Committing full force to the triathlon lifestyle. Living a healthy and happy life daily (albeit a sore one!)
Q&A - Personal
Why do you compete?
I love triathlon. I can not find any other sport that gives me the adrenaline rush of a mass swim start or running out of T1 jumping on my bike and cranking as hard as I can. That doesn't even include the insane sense of accomplishment that I get right after I cross the finish line.
Some Personal Information About Me:
I'm a landscape architecture student at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. When i'm not training 12-15 hours a week I'm in my design studio cranking out the projects. Those two things combined take up almost all my time. I'm pretty much a health nut and love food network more than any thing else on tv (i'm probably a closet fat kid on the inside).
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
Average Training Schedule:
Monday: 3000 meters of drills and speed work in the pool
Tuesday: 45 minutes of tempo run and 90 minutes endurance work on the bike
Wednesday: 3000 meters of endurance, strength work in the pool
Thursday: easy 7 mile endurance run, 90 minute race intensity intervals on the bike
Friday: 3000 meters of speed, strength work in the pool
Saturday: 90-120 minute brick
Sunday: 2 hour, low intensity extended endurance bike ride
