Yeah, we race against motorcycles too. What they do is
Line 1: Expert/Amateur - Motorcycles
Line 2: Expert/Amateur - ATV's
Line 3: Novice/Beginner - Motorcycles
Line 4: Novice/Beginner - ATV's
They have overall placement in addition to the class placement. The motorcycles do not make up the top 10 finishers of the race either! It's hard for the ATV's to get thru all those bikes especially when they will not move but the fast quads just ride like hell. We typically have over a 100 riders easy on all the races.
You guys have a similar set-up?

Nah I have only raced Desert - no MX for me. Are Desert is very diverse so we see all different types of terrain, but I don't know about jumping that beast I call a QUAD - lol
