Yeah, I hate broken collarbones...Sorry it took me so long to reply. I didn't realize you had given a comment till recently. Luckily, I'm all healed up, and I have been riding for a few weeks. Thanks for the comment! |

Competition and Me
How did you get started?
My dad was a local pro in the 1970's. He stopped riding when he went to college, and didn't ride for 30 years. A few years ago, when my family and I moved, the new house had some land and my brother and I talked my dad into getting us bikes. I started on a YZ125 and my brother started on an XR80. Now I am on a CRF250R and my brother is on a YZ250F; he is 14. We love the sport now and couldn't be happier. It is our favorite thing to do.
List your competitive highlights
I placed 1st at our track, Montalba MX, in the 125-650 Open Novice/Beginner class, and I placed seventh at Swan MX in 2005 at the Texas/Oklahoma Pro Circuit Regionals in the 125 Beg class. I did the Ponca City Qualifier at Freestone County Raceway on May 12, 2007, and took 11th.
What are you planning for next season?
I am going to race in the Beginner class for a little longer, and when I feel that I am ready, I will move up to Novice.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
Becoming a much better rider while practicing at Montalba MX track and learning to ride well in the sand.
Personal Stuff About Me
What inspires you to compete?
I love competition and I love to ride, so it fits that I should do both at the same time. I have always desired to prove to myself and others that I can do whatever I put my mind to.
Why do you like this sport?
It drains out all the negatives in life and brings out all the positives. It puts me in a different world while I am riding.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Flipping my bike in the same spot in both motos at a race at Swan Cycle Park.
Describe your style...
On the edge but in control.
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
I try to ride at least 3 times a week sometimes more, as well as cycle as much as I can.
School and Me
Are you a student?
Yes. I am a Junior in college. I go to the University of Texas at Tyler.
What are you trying to accomplish academically?
My goal is to get a Ph.D in some field of Biology, which is my major. I will probably go for the Ph.D in Genetics.
Are your grades decent?
My grades are high, especially for a science major. I just finished taking some hard classes, such as Organic Chemistry and Calculus (I made B's in the Organic Chemisry Lab and Lecture, as well as in Calculus). I have a 3.53 overall GPA.
With all this studying, can you still make time to race motocross?
Absolutely! I admit that there are a few weekends each semester, the ones before finals and mid-terms mostly, that I have to study and can't ride, but only a few. I can still dedicate a lot of my time to motocross. I manage my schedule to where I get all of my studying done during the week, with time to spare for training, and I'm perfectly free most weekends to race. I try to ride after school as much as I can during the week.
So, in other words, you are dedicated to both school and motocross?
You got it! But don't forget family either. I am very close to my family. My brother is my best friend, and my parents are great people to hang around. I've never been to practice or to a race without them.
