How I got started

I began riding for fun when i was eleven years old. I picked up on riding very quickly so my dad decided I should try my luck with racing. My first race was in March of 1997 in Midland Texas. I rode a 1986 KX 80 to a second place finish that day then one month later won my first race in midland. Then once I proved myself over about a six month period I recieved a new bike, and began to win all the local races. I stopped racing for two years due to injuries, and social activities that were overrunning my time. Then in the summer of 2001 i began to ride again. At this time I rode a 2001 YZ 125, I began in the beginner class and rapidly worked my way up through novice and intermediate classes.

This season I have moved up to the professional class, and intend on making the podium on a weekly basis. This is something that I have worked very hard for and plan on continuing these efforts. Currently I work out every day of the week, and do extensive cardio workouts to maintain my stamina. I believe that the hard work and dedication will pay off, and I plan on trying to race a few arenacrosses this season, and hopefully be able to run the entire series by next season. I have recently graduated from Texas Tech University and now I intend on putting more focus into my racing. Without the demands associated with being a college student, and not to mention being broke all the time I think I can take my hard work and dedication up a notch!

What inspires you to compete?

Competitive spirit is what keeps my interest in the sport all together. Riding for fun is just that, and anyone can do that it takes something special to make someone want more than fun. It`s that feeling that you are confident in yourself, your training, and your equipment to take you to that top position every week. The feeling after a win is indescribable. At that moment you realize that all the money, time, effort, sweat, and dedication has finally paid off.

Schools Attended

Student at Texas Tech University, I have maintained a 3.0 GPA and still been able to make races every weekend. I will graduate with a bachelors degree in Petroleum Land Management from Texas Tech in December of 2006.

Competitive Highlights

My first racing memory would be my first race when I came in second place, only to come back one month later to win my first race. Recently highlights in my career have been more rapid. I have been getting great holeshots and riding very well. I hope to continue to rapidly improve and do well every weekend!
