Thank you for a great year. I finished 3rd in the Lucas Oil AMA Women's Pro Motocross Championship! Unfortunately, I had a big crash in the first moto at Steel City. The track was pretty rough. I got a decent start. I was closing in on 2nd when I hit the big step up in the back of the track and came up a little short. I hit my chin on the bars hard! I tried to get back up but my legs just buckled (I guess I know how prize fighters feel when they get hit with an uppercut). I was taken to the Asterisk medical vehicle on site. They stitched me up both inside my mouth (shots, ouch) and 12 stitches on my chin. They put my arm in sling because we thought my shoulder might be broken. I was not able to race the 2nd moto but I stayed and helped do some announcing over the PA and the internet broadcast for the girls'

second moto - as long as I could but my mouth was hurting.

The race at Steel City was also called the "Pink Race" and was a Breast Cancer Awareness and Fundraiser event. Thanks to Throttle Jockey, who made us some great pink graphics, we were able to support the cause. TJ even made a cool seat cover that was white on the left side and black on the right.

The event raised $20,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation!

I stayed for the MX Sports Awards Celebration on Sunday. It turned out to be a pretty neat event. I received a medal and recognition on the stage for my 3rd place in the Championship along with the top 10 in the WMA. I was hurting pretty bad and kind of a bit out of it so I couldn't really give a long interview.

I am back in Bakersfield and starting to feel better. My shoulder seems to be alright but I have a fracture in my jaw. I will be taking a few weeks off and then possibly doing some indoor races and maybe the last WORCS race. I will keep you posted.

Check Allisports.com for the Steel City Women's Post show later this week, maybe they have my crash in it. Ha, ha.

Also, There are some Women's MX Shows airing on Versus this month:

Washougal MX - Sept 16

Moto-X 338 - Sept 23

Steel City - Sept 30

Thank You,

Sherri Cruse

Sorry I haven't checked in sooner. I have been on the road since the X Games.

X Games 15 was great event again and I feel honored to be a part of it. They treat the athletes so well. This year they made the women's purse equal to the men's and it was the biggest purse we have ever had.

The Women's Super X race was scheduled to take place at 6:15pm on Saturday for live ESPN. As things go with live television we were rescheduled for 5:30pm with a 5:15pm call to staging. We had about a 10 minute warning that we had been moved forward in the program. I was just on my way back from watching men's Super X when I got word. No worries, we all made it on time.

Unfortunately, my racing didn't go as I had hoped. I got an decent start off the gate but came through the first corner in 2nd to last. The race was a quick 6 minute sprint. According to my mechanic I put in 2 of the fastest laps times (so I am happy about that). I charged through the pack as best I could and finished less than a second behind 3rd place (bronze medal) for 4th.

The track was cool. I felt good on all the jumps and look forward to racing it again next year.

At X Games I had a special sponsorship with Circle K. See photo attached or for more photos go to http://www.pbase.com/mitch_gil/xgames_womens_x_moto_x.

We were able to keep all the existing sponsors on the bike. The bike got a lot of attention and it was a good feeling to be bring in corporate sponsor to our sport.

Also, I have attached a copy of a one page feature I have in the September issue of Transworld. There's also a few pages on the WMA Nationals and I have a photo and am mentioned in that.

I am getting ready now to head to Southwick and Steel City for the last two rounds of the WMA Championship. I will keep you all posted.

Thank you for all your support,

Sherri Cruse

Well Victoria had two pretty good months.  There are always some ups and downs, but overall she has ridden well.  Most of July was spent preparing for Ponca City.  Victoria put a lot of hard work in getting ready, but simply didn't have the week she planned to have while there.  There were a few distractions early in the week, and she had a difficult time mentally overcoming everything when she got on the track.  During her last moto of the week she finally loosened-up and "just rode the motorcycle", and looked pretty good.  If she had run those lap times all week, she should have finished between 6th and 9th in the Women's class.  So, she was happy with her speed, just a little upset at her performance.

Right after coming home from Ponca City she moved onto the 250F.  The transition has been great.  I have been surprised at how easily she has become comfortable on the 250F.  Over the past month she has ridden better and faster than I have ever seen her ride.  She says this bike handles so much better and she looks more comfortable already.  We've been to Texas a couple of times on the 250F, and the move has definitely helped her speed.  We have a busy fall planned, and she is in the middle of her preparation for the Branson event.  We will keep you posted on how everything goes.

Hello everyone, well we have 3 weeks of racing to post. We've had some ups and down, but mostly ups. On 8/15 was the 100 National, 8/22 was the Gene Romero, and 8/29 was a Short track, all the races were held at Lodi Cycle Bowl.
The 100 National was a race we were waiting for. Its pretty exciting with all the guys that enter, and nobody rides these bikes except for this night. Also we borrowed another 450 for the night. We signed up for 4 classes again, 250 A, Open A, 100 National, and Lodi Money. During practice we really weren't able to dial in the 450, but rode it anyway. All the other bikes were fine.
In the 250 A race the bike was working really well, I won the heat, and the main. In the Lodi Money I won the heat, but got a bad start in the main, and ended up 3rd. The 450 was not working for me at all, but still managed to make the main. I told myself if I didn't get a great hole shot, I was not going to over ride myself with a bike that was not working for me. I got a bad start and just rode it out. I ended up 10th. Then there was the 100 National race, there were 25 riders and only 18 make the main. In my heat race I got the hole shot, the bike felt great, and I went on for the win. In the main I got 3rd pick for the start, and felt really good. At the start the light turned green and all of a sudden handle bars were going everywhere. I was getting hit from all directions and finally took off and I was 9th going in to turn 2. I couldn't believe it, I thought I would get a better start. Oh well, it was a 25 lap main so I started racing. I picked a couple of guys off, and was gaining on some more guys and a crash happened right in front of me, I had to brake and swerve, and a few guys passed me because they missed the crash. So I started after them and picked all 3 of them off, and was back were I started, in 9th. I picked of 2 more guys, and the race was over. I ended up 7th. Kind of wish I did better, but it was a lot of fun.
The next race was the Gene Romero at Lodi, we only entered the 250 A race because of funds. My bike was feeling good, and so did I. Since it was a Gene Romero race, I really wanted to win. In the heat race I got the hole shot, and never looked back to take the win. In the main, off the line I was neck and neck with another rider, but I popped out in front, put my head down, and took the win. The Gene Romero races are cool because if you win your heat, you get to take a victory lap by your self, and if you win the main you get to take a victory lap while holding the checkered flag. So I got to do both. It was really cool. I had a lot of fun.
The next race was a Lodi short track race. It was really hot up there, but I was ready to go. Again we only signed up for the 250 A class. In the heat I got the hole shot, and went on for the win. In the main same thing, got the hole shot, and never looked back. O.K. maybe I looked back once. As always I get to see my racing buddies, and do the thing I love to do, RACE. I am very lucky to be able to do this all the time, I really have to thank my DAD. He is always doing something for my racing career. Thanks DAD.
Anyway I cant thank my sponsors enough. I cant believe sometimes that I have all of these quality sponsors, and people who believe in me. Thank you very much. I love this sport. Hope to see you at the races, and I cant wait for next week, TT at Lodi.

Bad news from the last round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Nationals this weekend for Valli Motorsports/AXO rider Kyle Regal, while running fourth in the first moto Kyle Cross rutted on the face of the big uphill triple and upon landing Kyle was impaled by a track marker, Kyle was rushed to the hospital with early reports that he has torn liver. Please send your best wishes to Kyle and his family at http://www.facebook.com/Kyle-Regal

Two AXO riders on the podium is the result of a thrilling 125cc race held in Misano for round 13th of the series: a little bit of luck and hard work have given Julian Simon win number four and Bradley Smith the third step of the podium of the GP of San Marino.

Simon got off to his best start of the year and rolled up his sleeves for a fight with Andrea Iannone for the lead. Riding at the limit, he backed off in order to conserve points and avoid any risks, keeping clear in mind is final aim: to win the World Championship! It was a strategy that paid off in the end, as Iannone and Pol Espargaró came together on the final lap and showed just how dangerous the battle for the win could be. The elimination of the two riders ahead of him allowed Simón to cross the line first and extend his advantage to 57.5 points in the overall standings.

Chasing the podium with determination was Simon´s teammate Bradley Smith. The Briton was plagued by problems after taking off from pole, lacking trust in his machinery over the opening handful of laps. One comeback later and he was in the fight for the rostrum, but when in sixth place the difficulties returned in the form of a gearbox issue. Rather than giving up, Smith fought to maintain positions, and worked his way up to fifth once more. The crash at the front rewarded him for his efforts with third place, giving AXO the second podium spot of the race!

Julian Simon: "I am very happy with the win, even though it came in a very strange way. I suppose it makes up for the mistake that we made in Barcelona. I worked well all weekend, doing everything possible to stop our rivals closing in, and it was successful. I had a much better start than at other races and I am very satisfied with every aspect of the weekend. I'm sorry about the crash between the two guys in the lead, but with the effort that we put in I think that we deserved the victory just as much. We are getting closer to the title with every race, and I can ride more calmly because of this. I would love to take the title in Portugal because of how close it is to home, but I'm not banking on it because Nico and Bradley will make things hard for me. I will be going for the win there because it is a track that I like a lot. Now I'm going to rest up and get ready for Estoril."

Bradley Smith: "I can say that I am happy with the podium, but it is a shame that we couldn't have fought for an even better result. The start of the race was difficult for me -braking didn't feel comfortable- but I felt better and better as the race progressed and I started to overtake other riders. I had fun riding and coming back through the field, and I knew that little by little I could get up to the podium places, but with ten laps to go I had a problem with the gearbox on the slow corners. That dropped me down again, and I thought that the rostrum had escaped my grasp. The last lap crash between Espargaró and Iannone gifted me third place, and I think that this was the perfect result. Fourth, second and third in the last three races are good results, and I'm feeling a lot more comfortable. I will have to continue like this and attack hard in the last four races to get the runner-up spot."

Good result for Chris Vermeulen in MotoGP: the Australian, at the end of a difficult week-end, put in a battling display to bring his Suzuki home in ninth place. His pace in the race was equal to a top six finish and without the first lap incident, which forced him to slow down to avoid a crash, could quite easily have been fighting with the guys at the front in the latter stages.

A podium spot came for AXO from the Supermoto, too, where Husqvarna rider Gerald Delepine rode his bike to a third spot overall in the S2 class at the third round of the World Championship, held on a wet Latina circuit this week end.

Good job guys!
