So we foud out what the problem was with the bike. An electrical wire was frayed and did not allow spark to get to the ignition coils. No fire, no higher!
I would like to thank the crew at RPM Cycle of Dallas, TX for solving my problem in one day. The crew over there - Boris, Ryan and Derick are all top notch guys. They run a clean, friendly and knowledgable shop. I drove up from Houston and spent the day with them as they looked over the bike. These guys new I raced and understood the urgency to get the bike fixed. Boris fit me in and already tight schedule and took half of his mechanics day to figure out my problem. If you get a chance, please visit them at http://www.rpmcycletx.com/ A truly outstanding group there!
Unfortunately, the part is on back order from Triumph - go figure. Fortunatley I should be back in business by the time Hallet rolls around (May 31 - June 1). Hopefully round 4 will bring me more luck! |

So the new race season hasnt started off so well. Round 1 of CCS-South racing brought rain to MSR-Houston and I wasnt about to break my neck racing in the rain for the first time ever.
Round 2 was at Eagles Canyon but I had to leave THAT DAY for an out of country work trip.
Round 3 was back at MSR-Houston and the Triumph decided to quit on me. It happened right on the way out for my first race. The fuel pump spiked during practice and burned out the ECU. Apparently there is a recall for this - by the way Triumph never notified me of - and its in the shop getting worked on.
Hopefully Round 4 and 5 will bring more luck.
I'd like to congradulate Allen Campbell who took 1st place and 2nd place in the Heavyweight Supersport and Unlimited Supersport Novice classes (CCS-South) respectively.
Also to Brian Noel who got 4th in his Superbike B novice race with CMRA.
Congrads to both and keep it rollin'! |

Happy New Year everyone!
I am looking forward to the start of the 2008 race season. I decided to make the switch from CMRA to the CCS South race series. CCS South provides the same tracks as CMRA with the addition of Barber and Daytona.
I would like to thank my sponsor, Bridgestone, for signing me on for the 2008 season. South Central Race Center ran by John Hutchinson is a top notch operation. Anyone in need of Bridgestone tires in the south should look to South Central Race Center for all your tire needs!
I have been practicing alot during the off season and look forward to showing off my new found skills soon.
I have a son due to be born soon and the first scheduled race with CCS South is right around the same time. I hope to race Febuary 3 at MSR-Houston.
Best of luck to all my friends this season! |

Due to work constraints, texas World Speedway was my first race weekend of the year.
Working on the removal of my Provincial Novice status, I worked the endurance race on Saturday as a cornerworker. I did this not only as a requirement of the Prov Nov status, but also to give back to the CMRA community.
My very first race ever was the Superstock B race. I qualify to race in Superstock B under the "Up to 955cc 4-stroke triples." Riding on a 2006 Triumph Daytona 675, I grided up in the second wave. I turned the nervousness into adrenaline as the green flag waved and moved up 6 places off the start. After a mishap on lap 3, I found myself at the back of the pack.
By the end of the race I moved up 13 places to finish 30th of 43 overall. I did have a personal best running a 1:59 lap!
My second race came at the end of the day, running in the Heavyweight Twins class. With a great race underway I found myself crossing the finish line halfway through the expert/novice race in 8th of 15.
After checking the race results I was excited to see that I finished 3rd of 9 in my class. Not bad for my second race ever!
Thanks to my wife and my friends - Bryan Noel and Shawn Barker for supporting me this year.
I look forward to a full year of racing in '08 and some sponsors too! |
