Atomic Laboratories is owned and operated by Mike and Lisa Flaherty. Mike is a former BMX pro who has worked as a designer in the bicycle industry for years, and Lisa is a former Chemist for LAPD Crime Lab. Mike raced from 1979-1985 and was the number 2 ABA East Coast pro behind Tim Judge in `85. Back then dirt jumping was just something you did to have fun when you weren`t racing. Mike was one of the few pros who put more energy into dirt jumping and riding quarterpipes than racing.

In 1992 he founded Sonic Speedwerx which he later sold to his partner, Darryl Crews. Since then, Mike has designed ads and products for many of the world`s leading bicycle companies. In January of 1997 Mike and Lisa left their jobs and started Atomic. Even with two kids, Mike still rides trails and skateparks as much as possible.
