125 B Stock
Riding with his right shoulder in a brace because of injury, Austin Stroupe strung together three solid motos for a 1-1-2 record and a convincing victory in the 125 B Stock class while his competitors struggled with inconsistency.

Austin Stroupe ran strong in the B classes Wednesday morning, winning the 125 B Stock class and finishing second in 125 B Modified, behind a strong-running Trey Canard

But the rider who put in the fastest lap times of the weekend while putting on a riding clinic was none other than B class standout, Austin Stroupe. I have had the privilege of following Austin since his days on a 65cc machine, but I haven’t had much of an opportunity to watch him since he made the move to big bikes. Thus, I was anxious to see how fast he had gotten, what with all of the hype I have been hearing about his speed. Believe the hype! Austin is a hard charger with incredible corner speed. PJ Larsen was his closest rival and Mr. Larsen himself is an unbelievable talent. PJ has one of those super stylish riding styles with that over the front body positioning. PJ was triple tripling the rhythm section that only Carmichael and Stewart were jumping at the National. Larsen, from South Carolina finally got a good start behind Stroupe, but was unable to match the leader’s corner speed. Larsen’s riding style and track demeanor gave hints of his supercross prowess. Stroupe on the other hand, is a blazing fast outdoor rider. In my opinion, he could have placed in the top 10 at the High Point national, in either class! He is THAT fast.

But as you can see in this picture of Austin Stroupe, this man knew exactly where to line up! Now that is a holeshot, folks!

Another young kid to keep your eye on is Austin Stroupe. The Kawasaki rider was riding with Villopoto and pretty much matching his speed on the Perris track. That kid is going to be good.

Austin Stroupe grabbed a title in the 125cc Stock 12-15 class, which had to feel a whole lot better than getting disqualified last year in a stock class for a piece of foam added to prevent mud packing. Sadly, it looks like it might be Kawasaki`s last U.S. title for the KX125.

Stroupe and Nelson lead Thor`s Amateur Team in Texas

Lake Whitney and Oak Hill marked the beginning of the 2006 Amateur National circuit, and many of Thor`s Amateur Team riders were already in mid-season form... none more so than Xtreme Team Green`s Austin Stroupe and American Suzuki / Munn Racing`s Jessy Nelson.

Stroupe and Nelson dominated their respective classes for two+ weeks... not even allowing Mother Nature to slow them down (those of you who made it to Oak Hill know what we`re talking about). To say that Austin and Jessy were hot would be an understatement.

The two Thor Riders brought home 15 Championships over a two and a half week period. Stroupe won 4 of 6 classes entered at both Whitney and Oak Hill (racking up 8 total championships), in STACKED classes that included up-and-comers like Nico Izzi, Trey Canard, Kyle Cunningham, and Ryan Dungey... to name a few. Not to be out done, Jessy Nelson showed everyone what he is bringing to the table in `06, winning 3 of 6 classes entered at Whitney and taking 4 of 5 at Oak Hill (2nd in the 5th class).

Austin and Jessy led the way in Texas; but Thor`s Amateur Team as a whole captured a total of 62 Whitney / Oak Hill Podium spots, including 28 championships!

We could not be more proud as a sponsor; and we would like to thank all of our riders for their unbelievable efforts... without them and their families we could not possibly exist.

Thor riders came ready to battle at the 12th Annual AMA Parts Unlimited Spring Classic held at Lake Whitney Motocross Park. The week`s battles began early with Thor riders Nico Izzi and Austin Stroupe duking it out. When the dust settled, it was Austin that prevailed to claim four championships.
More of the weeks highlighted moments were provided by Thor rider Alisa Nix! She was able to hold off the women veterans to win her first championship in the Womens/Pro Sport class!
Jessy Nelson and Matt Lemoine also added to the excitement of the weeks racing!

We would like thank the following riders for giving Thor14 championships!

Xtreme Team Green’s Austin Stroupe seems to have become one with the big bikes as evidenced by his sensational performance at the Showdown. Stroupe was a NSC (non series title contender) but this did not keep him from putting in a historic CMC record setting performance in the event. Teaming up with his mechanic Eddie Laret, Stroupe moto’ed to win, after win after win. Gating against racers like Travis Baker, Travis Freistat, Tanner Langham, Trent Pugmire, he would take a two second lead more often than not in each moto, and then slowly march away. His final undefeated tally for day one were a combined ten moto wins in 125 Open, 125 Intermediate, 250 Intermediate, Schoolboy, 4-Stroke Amateur, and topping that with a sizeable amount of contingency money from Kawasaki. Honda of Houston racer Pugmire was a NSC but raced to a respective second in Schoolboy (2-2) and 125 Intermediate (2-2). Philip Thorstensen was also a NSC but busted through for a second in the 125 Open (2-2) and a third in 125 Intermediate (4-3).

Nearly 1800 riders converged at Oak Hill Motocross Park, where Stroupe emerged as the top motorcycle-class rider, winning championships in the 125cc Intermediate Stock and Modified classes, 125cc Open, and 99-250F Schoolboy (12-15) Modified classes, while Nelson led the 65cc (10-11) Stock and Modified classes, 65cc Open, and 85cc (7-11) Modified classes.

Oakley Groms Smoke TX

Lake Whitney, TX - March 7-12, 2006
Having a small tight group of the fastest non-pro and amateur pro racers, Oakley dominated the field by taking almost every national title there was to be won.

Flying under the radar was Oakley`s Austin Stroupe. At the young age of 15 dropped, he dropped the hammer on everyone that entered the non-pro classes by running away with 8 National Championships. Rocking the Antifreeze Oakley CROWBAR™ MX goggle and using all the advantages of Oakley`s High Definition Optics® (HDO®) optics, this youngster from NC has a very bright future in the MX world and will definitely be a name that you will hear about in the future.
