Overview

How I got started

I began racing Motocross at the age of 10 at a local track here in Maine. I raced locally for two years before i joined the New England Sports Committee [NESC] and raced the 85cc class for two more years. When i was 16 i moved over to the New England Motocross Association [NEMA] and won four Championships as a 125cc A rider. The following year i turned professional and went back to NESC to race the Expert championship series. After a few years of being a top ten rider i stepped it up in 2001 and began finishing in the top three. I earned a full ride for the following year with Manchester Honda Racing [MHR]. I had a very sucessful year finishing 2nd in three of the four championships and winning three races in the 250 class. In the fall of `02 KTM picked me up and gave me full support with bikes and parts and i was also able to keep my exsisting sponsors through MHR since they were a KTM dealer as well. Unfortunately i suffered an injury to my ankle in July of `03 and was unable to compete in the remainder of the season. In `04 I returned with MHR on the new Honda four strokes. I competed in the NESC Spring series minus three races where i traveled to race AMA Nationals. My highest finish was a 22nd at Southwick. In the fall I competed in the NESC 250 Pro Fall Series where i placed 2nd. In 2005 I went to Canada to race the east rounds of the MX1 nationals and earned national #49. In 2006 I went back and raced 7 of 9 rounds in MX1 finishing 17th overall and earning national #24 for 2007.  I have since gone back the last two years and earned various top ten finishes in MX1 and national numbers #37 and #52.

Goals for the Future

My Plans for 2010 are quite busy.  After Christmas I plan to go to California for three weeks to race the Golden State nationals and ride and train.  From there I will head back east and race the east region Arenacross series.  Starting in the spring I am going to once again compete in the NESC 250 and 450 Pro championships where I will be looking for a top three overall finish.  In the Summer I will race the Canadian Nationals and cap off the season with the Montreal SX.

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

When I was 8 years old i was just starting out learning to ride on an XR 80. My dad had raced in the 70`s so we always had bikes around. One day i was grocery shopping with my mom and she bought me a MX mag. I was flipping through it and i came across this full page photo of Damon Bradshaw. His gear, style, bike........ everything just looked so badass! That picture singlehandly made up my mind that i wanted to race and be like him.

Why do you like this sport?

Motocross has been my life since I was 8 years old. I love the sport because first off I love to ride. In my opinion its the most fun thing you can do on this planet. Its a great family sport where I can spend time with my family and enjoy myself. Everyone in my family is a racer! My dad races the 40+ class, my brother is also a pro, my uncle races the 40+, my cousin races the Female and 125 youth, my girlfriend rides......you get the idea. I enjoy working hard and the feeling you get when you meet your goals.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I am 28 years old and live in Lewiston, ME. I have lived in Maine all my life. I have spent the last six winters racing in Florida, the last three with my wife Amy. I attended Oak Hill High School and graduated in `99 with Honors and a two year completion certificate in Machine Tool. I have been traveling in my van to the races every weekend with Amy ever since!

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I train religously.....every day. I work a 40 hr a week job so every spare moment is poured into motocross. a typical week looks something like this. Monday I am usually spent from the race that weekend so i just take a easy ride on my road bike to loosen up. Tuesday im back on the bike doing 2-45 min moto`s after work. Wednesday I usually go on a long run and prep the bike to ride thursday. Thursday I ride again, 2- 45 min motos, then go home and go for another run. Friday is Marathon day where i go on a long cross country run in the morning. During the summmer I am racing Nationals so saturday is practice and qualifying and Sunday is race day.

How's Life Treating You?

Life is treating me quite well. I have achieved quite a few of my goals in MX throughout the years and im pretty happy with where im at. Outside of MX things are also going pretty good. I have been with my wife Amy now for 5 years and it's going great. We are looking to buy some land and build a house in a year or so. We are both pretty excited about that. Other than that I have been just working my job as a metal fabricator now for 5 years and i dont mind it too much. My boss races as well so i get time off to travel when i need it which is a huge help. Overall im pretty happy with the way my life is going.
