This past weekend was the West Coast Dirt Track Series Thunder on the Lot Charity race. The track was at the Antalope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, CA. It was a DG track, which is one of my FAVORITES! Unfortunately, I just couldn't get it together for this race.

My dad left my class c tires on since the track was going to be DG, but we both agree that I would have done much better with my knobbies on. In the main everyone got a better start on me, but I began to pull them in. Just as I was at their back tires, I slide out in turn four. By the time I got up and on my bike the race was done. I was bummed that I didn't even get to finish! It was the first WCVDTS race that I have lost in 15 consecutive races...What a record!

Next weekend is Lodi and I am hoping some other 65's will be there! I need to get back on my bike and shake off the crash.

A BIG thanks to all of my sponsors...You are the best!

See you in Lodi - AJ #80

It was my first AMA race of the year and I was excited to be back at the Lodi Cycle Bowl. The last time I was there I won the West Coast Amateur Nationals...so it was good to be back. It was a HOT day and a long drive, but we got to the track and there were lots of racers there. Unfortunately for me there were no other 65 bikes. I got to ride practice and they called my parents up to the sign up booth. They told us that I was unable to race because they had no class to stick me in. I was bummed. I got to ride my second practice and then my night was over. It was different just watching, but I got to cheer on my brother, dad and Grandpa to some awesome finishes.

I can't wait to hit Lodi again...and race there! My parents are going to try to get a hold of some kids with 65's and get them to come, because it sucks not being able to race!

Three weeks off and then I am headed to Lancaster. Can't wait!

Hello Race Fans -

I LOVE Willow Springs! It had been several months since my last race, and I was ready to go. I was at my favorite track on my new bike with all my favorite riders. It was a perfect weekend!

Saturday's practice was very windy! The track crew worked extra hard to keep the track just right. I was a little nervous at first, but once I got on the track I remembered why I love it. The speed of my 65 was awesome out there. I wanted all the power it would give. I couldn't wait for Sunday's race.

When Sunday's practice came around I was ready to ride. I got some good lap times in at practice and dad changed my gearing for the heat race. I got to go out there with the 80's which was so cool. Andrew Luker is super fast, so I loved being able to chase him down. I got first in my main and enjoying seeing my borther, Jeremy, get 4th in his main. All the crowd was cheering for him and he did awesome!

I love watching the pros ride. I want to be just like them one day. Sammy Halbert and Joe Kopp had a good battle going on. Jimmy Wood looking so cool on the 450 showing those Harley's how it is done. Those guys are so awesome!

I want to thank all of my sponsors for their support. A very BIG THANK YOU goes to my new sponsor, Digger Helm. I admire and respect him on and off the track. If it wasn't for him there would be a big whole in flattrack. You ROCK Digger!

Now it's time to prep for Lodi...May16th! I can't wait to get some more clay track experience...

Chasin A Dream - AJ Alves #80

My mom and dad have been working on our 2009 race schedule and it is just about finalized. So far we have 13 races throughout the state, with lots of time being spent at the awesome Lodi Cycle Bowl. Our season starts April 26th with the West Coast Vintage Dirt Track Series opener in Willow Springs. I can't wait!

Keep checking back for our full schedule to be released very soon!

Well...my season may be over, but riding has just started. I am practicing on my KX 65 trying to get the shifting thing down. The starts were the hardest, but I am getting it. My dad and grandpa put sprinklers in at our practice track, so now I can ride all the time! I can't wait for the '09 season to start...but for now it's time to get down to business and practice!

I got my ride for the '09 Season and I am SO excited. I will be aboard a Kawasaki KX 65. It is a big jump for me, but so far and I adjusting to using a clutch good. I have the off season to practice and cross-train so that I am ready for next season. The best part...this will be the bike I go race the Amateur Nationals on...I can't wait!

I just finished racing my two FAVORITE tracks. I can't wait to hit the Bakersfield Short Track and Willow Springs 3/8 mile. Last year I won the Bakersfield race and both days at Willow...and this year was no different!

Bakersfield is always so exciting because it is during the fair and the crowd is huge. They are always so excited to see the 50's roll out...and I think this year was the loudest they have been. A bad start got me off the line in third, but I passed for first in my class two laps into the eight lap main. I had such a drive that I almost beat the 65 that was out there with us 50's on the last lap. Another lap and I know I would have had him! I still won $100 thanks to Digger Helm....and $45 thanks to my favorite rider, Chris Canepa!

Willow Springs is so different from Bakersfield. I love the speed that I get on that track. I even cut my lap time down 3 seconds from the race I had there in April. I also like to watch the Grand National guys tear it up in the Pro main. I know one day I will be out there with them!

I look forward to hitting Bakersfield and Willow on my 65 next year!

till September 26th!

I just got back from racing the West Coast Amateur Nationals and I WON the 50 Senior Class. I am super excited!! I got an awesome plaque and a red number plate with my new AMA number, #1NW. The track at Lodi was awesome and I can't wait to go back. I raced a TT on Friday, 1/4 mile on Saturday and a short track on Sunday. I got second at the TT and First at the 1/4 mile and short track.....I love the big fast tracks! I want to thank my sponsors for helping me to be #1, and of course my mom and dad for all of their support!
