How I Got Started

I got started riding quads when I was 2 years old. I rode around my grandparents house, my grandpa's shop and the Oceano Dunes. I wanted to race, but my mom and dad said I had to get a little bigger. My dad raced flat track and I wanted to be just like him.

When I turned 4 I began my racing career. My first race was in Caruthers, California. I raced my quad for one season, then I moved to a Honda 50. I stayed on the Honda for one season and then I needed more power. I moved to the KTM SX50SR for the 2006 season and then to a KTM SX50JR for the 2007 season. I made a big jump in 2008 and moved to the King Cobra. I LOVE this bike! It has so much more speed and is the competitive bike I needed to race the West Coast Amateur Nationals. For the 2009 season I will be on a KX 65. I can't wait for the challenge and learning how to shift! I will also up my training program and cross train by doing some trail riding and motocross.

I am not the only Alves who goes fast! My dad, Joey, also races flat track. He is an open expert and teaches me how to "go fast." My grandpa came out of a 30-year retirement to start racing. He rides a TT 500 that he built himself. I can't wait to race them both one day because I know I will win. My little brother Jeremy starting racing this year and won both races he entered in....at three years old! For '09 he will start racing the same races I do...and thinks he can beat me! My youngest brother Andrew is only 2, but I know he will be racing in the next couple of years. Next to the Hayden brothers, we are the fastest brothers you will find!

This year I decided to take my racing program to the next level. I raced the West Coast Amateur Nationals at the end of May and took hom the #1 plate! This is a major accomplishment for me and takes my racing to the next level. I won't go for the National Title in DuQuoin this year, but plan to train and work hard to take the title in 2010 when we make the trip back East. I can't wait!
