Q&A - Personal

What do you want to be when you grow up?

In April 2005 when I moved to the A Class I made the decision to concentrate on my workouts and riding techniques to improve in order to compete competitively in the A Class. With this decision I chose not to try to attend the Nationals at Loretta?s. In 2006 I had to take time to rebuild as I had bike problems and was unable to attend either Nationals. In the 2007 race session I plan to go all out and not only attend both nationals in Ponca City and Loretta?s but ensure my skills have improved for a place in the top 10 at both events. In June 2007, after having multiple bike problems I decided to take a break from riding and concentrate on College. I enrolled in Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, KS, where I am entering my final year to become a Fire Fighter/EMT. I would like to continue riding when I graduate in May 2009, and am hoping to get hired on by the Medical Crew that works at the Supercross.

Why do you like this sport?

I don't like motocross, I LOVE IT. Being 120% active in this individual sport, gives me a high no other sport can do. Riding the bike, floating on air, knowing that I am taking a risk every time I get on the bike, give me more and more respect for the bike and the race track. Motocross is a once in a lifetime sport that can be shared by both my mom and me. This is definitely the most family orientated sport I could or would every participate in.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I`m 20 years old. I am a Manager at Altell in Hutchinson, KS and am going to college Fulltime for a degree in Fire Science. I have taken the last 1 1/2 year off from racing to get my education.

What inspires you to compete?

I love to compete. It give an high that can not be described. Knowing I have the power to succeed anlone is an awesome feeling.

Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

At age 8, I started riding my cousins pit bike around for a few months when my uncle talked my mom to buy me my first race bike. I road my first race in 1997 at age 9 at Dragoon Motocross Park in Lyndon, KS on my brand new KS60CC. I had my ups and downs sitting out 2 years with broken bones. At age 14 I started riding Big Bikes and improved vastly. I made my first trip to Loretta?s in 2004 in the 125 Intermediate Class. In April 2005 I moved to the A Class and am currently riding proudly my KX450F.

When I was on 85CC I had a terrible year and half, breaking my arm one month, my femur a few months later, breaking the same femur 5 months later, and then breaking both legs the week before Ponca City, just 7 months after healing from the second femur break. All these months of being broke I attended the races regularly watching, learning, coaching my friends, family, and fellow racers. The experiences I gained from absorbing and watching was well worth the cost I paid for sitting out the season and half. When I finely healed I came back faster and smoother than I ever thought I could be. Being out for this long period moved me from mini bikes to big bikes without much experience, but it didn?t stop me. I over came my fear of breaking bones and learned to concentrate on the track. I improved so much I amazed myself. I went from riding to winning! At Nationals in Ponca City in 2004, I was in the 125 B Stock Class going into the finals in 4th Place, I was pumped! It rained all night the night before my race, and riding in mud is my favorite track conditions. I had a great start and found myself in 6th place with 2 laps to go. I made an excellent block pass on a now excellent A Rider and with one lap left was sitting in a top 5 position. Unfortunately I bit the ground hard casing the optional jump after the finish line ending up with an overall 22nd place. Even thought I didn?t finish in the top 5 I know I have what it takes! In 2005, I went to the Nationals again in Ponca City and place 10th in the 125 A Stock Class. With only 3 ? months experience in the A Class I was totally stoked with a 10-place finish!
