Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I did my first "Tri" when I was probably about 6 it was only a short bike ride and a run for us young kids. I won it and ever since then there was a small flame burning. I swam, ran cross country, and biked all through High school, but it wasn't until last year when I entered the Grand Forks AFB Triathlon on a whim with no training and placed second that the flame really ignited. I've been hooked ever since!!

List your competitive highlights:

I made it to state in swimming my junior year of high school and that was probably the biggest highlight of my swimming career. I suppose my triathlon highlight would be placing second in Grand Forks, but hopefully I will place in a tougher tri!!

What are you planning for next season?

Next season my two big races that I have planned are Ironman Switzerland 70.3 and the London Triathlon. I am really looking forward to the London Tri because I hear that they are using it as a test for the 2012 Olympics.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment would have to be having my son and daughter! Triathlon wise it would probably be completing Alpe D'Huez in 3hrs and making the same climb that so many legends of the Tour D'France have done was just amazing!!

  TOFU Chili!
-Tofu - As much as desired (which ends up tasting like whatever you cook it in if you dont already it it)
-Then I add chili beans, garbonzo beans etc. (all the beans you want)
-Maybe a little hamburger
-White Corn (sorry cant remember the name, just know what the cans look like)
-Let that bad boy simmer for a while...mmmmmmmmmmmm.....I eat it with crackers

the racing is going okay, my running is still not where i want it to be though! basically i've been biking really hard and then just doing what i like to call a little survival shuffle, which has let me finish up my season with some decent results. looks like you are having a good season!
