Please say a prayer for Nick and his Family during this really hard time.  I went to see Nick and he is putting up a good front, but everyone of us knows that this is really hard to accept.

Please keep him in your thoughts, and most important, don't forget him...Don't be afraid to go visit him. He needs us now more than ever.  We need to show our support to him.  He is our friend, not just at the track, but all the time

I have begun serious training this last week.  I am still having an issue with my ankle being sore.  The doctors have said it is just from being in the cast, that this is normal.  The ankle seems weak and gets really sore and swells.   I am doing everything I can to get it stronger.  I rode for the first time and it felt great.  I know now that I have a lot of work ahead of me though!  I have been through this before and know that it will all work out.    I am tired of getting hurt and having to work this hard to get back to where I was.  I have been cycling and I really like that.  I got a Trek 1500 and ride almost everyday.  It is great and it helps me clear my head.  I get in the zone and can just ride forever.

I am at Mini O's this whole week filming some of my favorite riders for my next video project. Til next time.....

I am finally out of the cast and then the knee brace that i had to wear for 4 weeks after, I am walking normal now, not like Frankenstien!  I have started running a little and it still hurts a little, but I am trying to push myself.  I hope to get back on the bike soon.  I am waiting for my CTI braces to come back from being fixed.  I don't want to ride with out them.  They are the only thing that kept me from dislocating my knee this last time.  My parents are still kinda freaked out about me going back to riding because of all the other riders getting paralyzed and killed, but they say if this is really what I want, then they will do it.  They always give me 100% support.  I just want to ride.

Local Racer Earns a spot at National Championship Motocross Race at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch

Hurricane Mills, TN Trevor Barker just made his dream come true. The 16 year-old dirt bike racer from Melbourne, Florida has qualified for the largest amateur motocross race in the world, the 23rd annual Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Trevor took on over 17,000 hopefuls from across America to earn one of just 1400 qualifying positions.
“The Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s is the event every motocross racer in the country wants to compete in,” says Event Director Tim Cotter. “A win at the Amateur Nationals can serve as a springboard to a lucrative professional motocross career.”
Most of America’s top professional motocrossers, including Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Travis Pastrana and James Stewart, have won AMA Amateur National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s. A victory at this race is so valuable that two teenagers, Georgia’s David Millsaps and Pennsylvania’s Broc Hepler, were rewarded with six-figure pro contracts after winning Amateur National Championships last year.
Trevor Barker , who is a junior at Eau Gallie High School has been riding since he was 11years old, but only started racing in the last two years. Sponsors such as Beach Sportcycle Yamaha, Dunlop tires, Pro Circuit, Factory Connection, Gaerne Boots and Monster Energy Drink to name a few. Trevor has 17 sponsors to help pay his way to the races. He trains hard everyday, and competes nearly every weekend at races all over the country in the 125 and 250 cc classes.
Trevor will make the long journey to Tennessee along with his parents, Myron and Kitty Barker and his twin sister Kristin. The race runs August 2 – 7.
Trevor is just one of the 17,000 who spent the last four months qualifying for the event. The top finishers in area and regional qualifiers earn a birth into the national championship race at Loretta Lynn’s. Racers may enter a wide variety of classes, from minicycle classes for children as young as four, all the way up to a Senior division for riders over 40. There are also classes for women, and classes for both stock and modified vehicles.
The track is built on a section of Loretta Lynn’s Ranch and Campground in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The course contains a variety of jumps, corners and other obstacles designed to test the skills and stamina of the racers.
Most riders attend the event with the help of their families. In fact, many groups consider the event their family’s summer vacation. Besides races, the ranch provides family-friendly facilities including a game room, swimming pools, arts and crafts activities, and a fashion and talent show.
