On Sunday July 26, I competed in the Little Beaver Chainring Challenge. This race was special for me because it is the very first race I competed in in 2005. And I must say I done quite well. I started off in last place (20th) at the start of the LONG climb. after I hit the singletrack, that is when I started to come alive. The trail was heavily littered with rock gardens and roots. to my advantage, I excell in that terain. I quickly worked my way up to and was strongly holding 13th place untill I had a mechanical. A quick link on my chain snapped. After a quick repair, I was back and going strong. I only lost 2 places but it took them a little while to catch up. Through the rest of the race I was pushing them with no real place to pass.
I finished the race in 1:33, a mere 27:47 behind the leader. This is my best time this season. and my best position finish in a race( I didn't finish last). Not bad considering when I done this race in 05 I finished in 2:55.
