Bio

Why do you like this sport?

It combines my two passions. The outdoors and cycling. Also I enjoy the comradrie both on and off the trails. Mountain biking isn't just a sport..... It's a way of life.

Why do you compete?

Like most I like to push myself to the limits, not just physically but mentally. There is nothing like the feeling of pain and exhaustion deep into a race with 2 miles to go. Feeling too tired to finish. Knowing you are too close to quit.Laying past the finish line trying to gather your thoughts. Planning when to put to do this again.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

From early spring to early fall, I do a group ride once a week. Being the only racer I try to push myself a little harder then the others. I do a couple days of riding solo to practice at my own pace to work on certain skills I feel may need attention at the time.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

At age 8 or 9 I wanted my own bike shop. I was already building and repairing bikes. I don't know where or how I learned to do all the repairs but I was always working on bikes. At one point I believe I had enough parts and bikes to start my own shop. I still enjoy wrenching on bikes. I think I like it more then riding...........NAHHHH

How's Life Treating You?

Life is treating me great. What more can I ask for. I am healthy and happy. I have great friends and family that stand behind me and help me achieve my best.

Competition

How did you get started?

I have always mountain biked in some way. I remember as a kid my parents taking my brother and I in the mountains near our home and turning us loose on our Huffy's on the dirt roads while they followed behind us in the truck. we would ride all day. It wasn't untill 2005 I was invited to attend the 24 Hours of Big Bear to hang out and get the feel of the scene. A few months later I was talked into doing a race, so I borrowed a hard tail and some gear and competed. The race killed me. I was beaten and bruised and sore... I was in love. I went out the next day and bought myself a bike. The rest is history.

List your competitive highlights:

I don't have many highlights. For me it was placing in the top 10 at many races in my class on a 36lb. department store bike. It wasn't much when I started with it but with some donated parts from friends, I was able to hold my own and then some. I still smile when I think about the looks when I pushed that bike past some of my competitors.

What are you planning for next season?

I am hoping to move up to sport class next year. That is my goal. But I am going to take this and next season as it comes

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Finding people and companies other then the ones I am associated with everyday that see potential in me. Keep watching folks...... the best is still yet to come.
