Lot's of us made the trip down to Lake Perris BMX for the SoCal Nationals. My mom and my sister and I flew down and met my dad at the airport. Our friends the Larson's, along with the Sherwood's drove down with all the bikes. Everything arrived too late for first practice on Friday so we all had to race without knowing the track, that night. Everyone we talked to said to watch out and be careful for the first jump out of the gate. It had a pretty good lip that would kick up the back of the bike if you weren't careful. I was going to race class and open all three days so I'd get to know it pretty quick. I also got a new frame for my bike. I'm on a new Jr. XL Intense Podium and it is a little bigger and longer than my GT. It also was a little lighter, too! The guys at Fairfax Cyclery set it up just right for me and even put on matching brake cables and customized my brake so that it would be perfect.
That night I made second transfer in Open and second transfer in class. I didn't make it through semis in class but I did end up with a third in Open. It was really cold and windy and I was hoping it wouldn't be like that Saturday morning.
Saturday was much nicer and the wind wasn't a problem at all. The first jump definitely messed up a few people, especially kids that didn't race the night before. We were able to hang out with all our friends from Napa who were under a tent on the first straight. It is great to have friends at the track when you are at Nationals. My friend Emily got crashed over that first jump and really hurt herself because the other girls bike landed on her arm. She ended up with a broken arm! We were all so sad for her. Her brother, Tyler did pretty good all weekend even though he was really worried about his little sister.
I made second transfer in class and first transfer in Open. I didn't make it out of semi's in class but I got a great gate and got 2nd in Open! My friend Lake won the class Friday night and got second on Saturday. He crashed on the first jump and really got bashed. But he came back and did really well.
Sunday was another nice day and there was some great racing in the mains. I got 4th in Open for the day. Emily was there and was smiling even though her arm was in a cast. We were all so happy to see her. One of our favorite races was our friend Jordan's. She really works hard and on Friday when my bike didn't arrive, she offered to let me practice on hers! In her main she totally dominated, creaming the whole class. She was so fast we were all screaming! It is fun for us to see all our friends do well. Lake got 2nd again in class and everyone had a great time. Hope you all had fun, too. See you at home next week!

Hi everyone,
We have started our blog a little late this year. We've been easing into the 2008 season after riding and racing so much in '07. Last year was so much fun and I made so many new friends in the sport. My whole family is into BMX in a big way and we're looking forward to another fun year this year.
My first races of the season were at North Bay BMX. It had been raining and we all thought the track would be a muddy mess. No way! The whole Hardee crew was out there with all their friends and volunteers and the track looked and felt great! All my friends came out for the first day including Jackson and Nickolas. Frankie came all the way from Ukiah, too! The weather was really great and the racing was fun. I tried to race both class and cruiser but it was too tiring so I didn't do the main in cruiser. Everybody is going really fast this year and I finished fourth in class. But I didn't care that much, I had so much fun.
Earlier in the month of January I went to the Silver Dollar Nationals in Reno. I almost didn't go at all because Wednesday and Thursday I got a stomach "bug" and I was really sick. By the time I got to Reno I was pretty weak and it wasn't the best I've done. I raced cruiser with the 9 and under guys and there were some super fast kids in the class. I was in the gate with Tyler Fuller and Levi Pope! I didn't make my mains any of the days but I did still have fun.
For this year I hope to race more cruiser. Santa built me a really cool Intense one and he put on all the cool stuff. I'm pretty sure all the racing in both classes will get me in great shape. All my friends are going really fast, especially Lake. I'm going to have to be really awesome to keep winning, this year. I'm a bit too big for my GT and so dad said we were going to have to get a new frame. I guess I've grown 3 1/2 inches so I'm very uncomfortable on the GT, especially when I get off my cruiser.
I hope everyone is off to a great start and I know I'll see you all at the track soon. Se ya then!
