My name is Jeremy Wilbur, and I am currently serving in the United States Army. Before I joined, I was extremely dedicated to school. In doing so, I graduated from high school at the age of 16, and was headed to the Rochester Institute of Technology to major in Biotechnology with a focus on Genetics.
Needless to say, a $32,000 tuition was a bit out of reach for someone to manage without any finicial assistance from their family. My Dad soon convinced me to join the Army. After promises of studying on the coast of California, I accepted the offer and have since then served over five years.
There have been rough times, and joyous times, but in the end the Army and my fellow Soldiers take care of me and I do the same for them. I intend to serve a minimum of 20 years and love my job.
My racing career started in a little 10k sponsored by an Air Force base, where I performed rather horribly by today's standards. But it sparked an internal competition against myself to become a better runner. About a year later, my Wife suggested we do a triathlon (I replied immediately, "You're crazy!!!....") and now, I am a fairly competitive (and addicted) triathlete in my age group (20-24).
I love the fact that their are very few people in this World that can be amazingly skillful at all three disciplines, therefore most of us mortals must put everything we have into training and see what happens on race day.
I initially started this profile as a means to track my triathlon/racing progress. I have since then become an extremely satisfied sponsor of Fluid, my only choice in recovery products for endurance-based activities. Check out their website at livefluid.com and ask me for a 50% discount.
My short term goals include to win my age group at the Pacific Grove Triathlon to qualify for Alcatraz and maintain my Army Run Team's possession of the coveted Commander's Cup.
My long term goals include to complete a Master's Degree in International Relations and to one day be a member of the All-Army Triathlon Team.
