Well we have finished 2 more rounds of the Southern Motorcross here in NC.   Round 12 went well as far as finishing, but the bike took a dump on us after the 2nd moto, the thing just went blahh.  Found the reedpetals broke and luckly stuck in the intake and not iside the cases.  We were lucky enough to be able to borrow a friends bike for the main event for the 10 to 11 class and finished 1st for the night.  Unfortunatly mother nature came in to play for the open class and a down pour insued, i took J out of the main for that race because we were on a borrowed bike and the rider we were closest in points was the guy who we borred the bike from, he was injured and could not make the main.  I decided to play it safe and sit it out he finished 5th overall because he raced the first round.  Round 13 went well he finally cleared a big double that he had been afraid of so that bossted hime well, but like carma is he came a bit short and lost it and crashed so he finished 2nd for his class.  The open class wnet well 2 third place finishes for the night.   We have been practicing at a plce called busco beach, it is a atv park with a small track.  It is not very technical but it is long and a decent rythm section for speed practice.   He has improved his speed confidence a bunch here,  it also has big corners for practicing to rail a corner.   Well all for now we have a race this weekend then back on every other weekend for the rest of the year our break is over!
Thanks for reading my rambles.

WOW what a fast couple of weeks we have had.  We have complete 4 more rounds of racing bring the latest rnd to 11, so what have we been up to?  For starters rnd 8 and 9 went well just hard racing learning as he went, 10 and 11 went super!  Over the past month he has been down hard and gotten up and never was lapped!  He has beaten 85cc riders in the open class and has gotten so much faster and confident!!  J and I took a motor cross school with Ron tiechner in georgia 2 weeks ago, it was held at Nico Izzies practice track!  We meet hid dad Narrio and he is cool and anything.  The track was huge and took 2 to 3 min to get around.  The 2 day course was very well put together i was the water boy as it was 100 degrees or better everyday we were riding!   J put 4 hrs on the bike while there then i drove back that sat evening when clas was over to stay at the track for sunday's race on fathers day!  the class has seemed to help he does have some extra confidence so time will tell.  We have started practicing braking like we learned then we do the figure 8 track, then starts and start all over again.   I am looking forward to the 2 week break i need to get stuff done around here and he needs a break to be a kid!

Hello all we have had a heck of a time here in North Carolina, we started out the month of May with having my bike a KTM 250 and Joshua's Bikes stolen from our garage (locked).  We made round 6 with the help of a racer in same class by letting j use his practice bike (great!!).  rnd 6 was in tuskarora and he does real well there when it is not a rain out.  That day started out great he got first in his 10-11 class then while waiitng for the open class the clouds came in.  You guessed it as soon as we got on the gate waitng for the moto on the track the light rain started, then when the gate dropped it all came down (i have posted pictures).  He had a great time racing in that stuff and when the moto behind our finished the rain stopped, but by then they canceled the 2nd motos.
This past weekend started out with my getting his new 2007 ktm done going thru so we could practice before RND 7 on sunday.  Well the clutch was dragging when it was fired up which was bad because when i test rode the bike it did not do this!  So i figured just go and ride it it will loosen up (it did), but about 2hrs into practice he started jumping on the pegs and slowing down dramaticly like he was tired or something was wrong.  I was standing on a table top i was getting him to clear when he came up to the top the rear shock spring came out the bottom of the bike!!!!!!!!!   I was fortunate that josh wasn't in mid air when this happend and he pays attention the the bike like we talk about, he new enough to slow down and stop.  I was able to borrow a shock and race rnd 7 which he had a blow from the sand monster a couple of times.  He finished 3rd for both classes and was upset at him self, so we will see if he tries harder next rnd to improve himself.
Thanks to everyone who reads these ramblings

(maybe next time i will have him write everyone)

We have made it thru 2 more rounds of racing here in North Carolina in the Southern Motorcross Series.  Josh raced well in Rnd 4 at Half Moon finishing first in his class and 3rd in the open class but never lost sight of the faster rider always.
Rnd 5 was different story we went saturday may 2nd and had just had a new rear shock and rear tire installed so practice was a must.  After 2 laps we made adjustments and got the bike settled in so we made a deal for him to clear a 55 or so table top that the riders in his class are completing that same day, so he took it and did it easliy.  the next session of laps included him trying the next longer table top after the one just cleared and he was close, but about lap 4 the wind took him and when landed slammed the bike sideways! putting him into the ground very hard enought to bend the bars and rear sub frame!!
After getting him up and checked out only major bruising, even under the elbow and knee braces! Thats how hard he hit the ground, we went and checked bike out and thankfully our competator and freind loaned us their bars off the spare bike (Thanks JJ #28) and he actually came out 25 mins later and said he was ready.  He went back out same day about 1 hr later and cleared both jumps again with no trouble!!!
the next day during race he completed bot also impressing his nana and friends who didn't see the wreck but saw the damage afterwards.  I have posted 3 pics on the site but hey are no comparision to the real thing.  Thanks EVS for great equipment!!  I truely believe it saved the collar bone from being broke.

Well we made it thru rounds 2 and 3 here in North carolina with only minor cold and mud!!  this past weekend we went to Haw branch NC for the Southern Motor Cross round 3.   Josh finnally got his new EVS helment and No Fear race Gear and it seemed to help his ego or something becasue the little dude was hot!  He had an awsome start both of his 10-11 class races with a 4th and 3rd into the first trun out of 10 riders, but the first moto of the 7-11 class he lit them up!   The class had three boys on 65's 2 in the lower class (7-9) that give J a run for the money and normally get him and 4/ 85cc D class riders.  well the gate drops and he is ahead of everyone smokin into the first corner where the other 2 in his group have mod bikes and a little more experience get him in the first set of whoops out of the first trun.  But you should have seen him out front  runnin hard!!  he ended up thrid for the day in the that class.  In his 10-11 class he rode very well and was leading 2 riders who normally beat him untill later on in the race when they got him ,but they are in the 7-9class so didn't affect his place.  He did have another rider in his class so wasn't like he raced him self. anyway he did fall on lap and got back up and rode so hard he didn't get lapped!  all for now we have round 4 next week i wil post results again
Papa

Well we kicked off the 2009 Southern Motor Cross race season today Sunday, 22 March 2009 at Tuscarora N.C. in style!!   It is Josh’s second season on the KTM 65 but this year he moved to the 10 to 11 year old class, much faster riders. We spent the winter down time rebuilding the bike, to include new graphics and parts, from all of our GREAT sponsors (pictures to come), so we are the best looking rider out there.
The first moto for his normal class went well he was 4th out of the gate and 3rd into the first turn by the 4th turn he was caught up in a spill with other riders and went down, but by lap 4 he caught and passed 3 riders to come in second in his class. He went right back 2 motos later and raced his open class (7 to 11) and placed 3rd.
The second round of motos went great clean start and was in third for his class and doing great. He decided to give the bike some gas and cleared the finish line table top which is 50 feet or better!! This is a first for him that is why we are proud he excelled and improved today. The last moto for the open class he came in third again so both classes he came in the top 3 at the end of a great day!

Well I have finally made some time to talk about J's first arena cross race in Greensboro NC last month.  For starters we finished the bike rebuild the weekend before and only rode around the house for break in time.  Saturday was a great time he did well in qualifiing in his heat race he finished 5th out of 6 which wasn't bad.  The track decided to transfer all 18 kids to the main event which was great!  Josh was excited because he got to run out on the track during the opening cerimonies, they have 3 pro rider get on the finsh line jump and then intro the 65cc class as the future of motorcross  and they all run ou to the hill and high 5 thr pro's.   the crowd loved it also.  the main cam along and he had a great start right there with everyone in the 1st turn and then came out ahead of a few riders, a couple more turns and he passed a couple more.  I thought he was in top 10 but they said he finished 13th, he didnt get laped until the last turn.
Sunday was a ruff morning we had to get up at 6am after getting to bed around midnight, so tired is understatment.  the heat race went well again not last and did well in the racing didn't even get lapped this time!  The main event finally came around after what seemed like an eternity.  I think the nerves finally got to him and it didn't help i told him he could easliy geta top 10 finish because he had gate choise 9 so he already beat some of the guys in the time qualifing, so he gets on the gate in the second row with the smoke in his eyes from the riders (untuned bike) in front he got distrated and was dang near last out of gate and just never got back up to par.  he placed last that day so not a great day but safe.  We had a good time but if you go save you money they like to take it!
Thanks to all of our sponsors for the great year to come.
