The 2008 season has been a wet one.  Was not able to get a chance to race at all during the month of June.  July wasn't much more promising either!  Tried to get some racing in again on the 9th of August, just to have mother nature ruin it for us again.  Finally got a 450 and looking forward to racing it.  Hopefully the end of summer and fall will bring us better racing weather!

2007 D22 Championship is now wrapped up.  I am excited to say I am the 125B Class champion!!  I didn't know if I would be able to win after I broke my leg in August.  Thankfully, I had enough points and with participating in the bonus race at Lamoni, I was able to keep my point lead.  I want to thank all my sponsors for all their support for the 2007 season!  My Grandpa Van Veen for the 2007 RMZ 250F, could never have done it without the bike.  I am looking forward to the 2008 season and racing the A class.

I raced the bonus points race at Lamoni on 09/09/07 with a broken leg to help keep my lead for the championship.  I had a few look at my like I was absolutly Nuts and others applaud my efforts.  I don't think I am NUTS, I just go after my goals.  I had a few young boys approach me and say I am their hero.  I didn't do much on jumping, just a few doubles here and there.  I was the slowest guy out there, but still happy I was able to complete both motos and get 36 more points.  It sure felt great to get back on my bike and ride again!

Well, my season ended shortly due to breaking my right tibula and fibula in the woops section at The Farm MX.  It was my last race of the day, last lap, 20 feet before the checkered flag!  I had surgery on the 27th and had a rod put in.  I am currently in a walking cast and able to bend my leg at a 90 degree angle and put weight on it while walking with the help of crutches.  I am going to start using just one crutch and will then get the cast off on October 4th.  I am hoping to have my leg strong enough to start back racing in October to finish out the season.  I have been doing as much exercise possible daily to keep my body in shape and leg strong.  I am still going after the championship and hope my point lead is enough to do it.

I am having trouble getting my current results to post.  It keeps changing the date to 7/15/06, not sure why.

I raced the Farm MX in Indianola, IA on Aug 26th.  I had an overall finish of 4th place in the 125B class.

Had a fun weekend of racing.  Saturday in the 125B class in my first moto had a little trouble with the bike.  The ignition box fell between the triple clamp making it very difficult to make sharp turns.  Managed to put in a nice 2nd moto with a 3rd place finish, giving me 4th overall.

Sunday also proved to be a little on the challenging side with mother nature deciding to drop buckets of rain before and during the 1st moto in 125B.  What a fun ride.  Had some trouble sliding down the landing of the jump in the 3rd lap.  I was happy with my overall finish of 13th out of 20 after getting the bike started and finding my goggles in the mud.  Covered head to toe in mud, racing doesn't get much better than that!
