Want to more about Shelly???
How long have you and Steve been married and how did you meet? Ali Nunez, Fox Racing
I have been married 9 years. I met Steve in a nightclub in Huntington Beach, CA. I picked him out of a crowd and drilled him questions on if he rode moto. My eyes lit up when he told me he had the same bike as I. He picked me up two days later to go riding at Glen Helen and we haven't parted since.
With all your injuries (broken bones, surgeries, etc), does age play a factor? Angel, SIster
No age isn't the factor. It is due to riding above my abilities and not having professional training and learning the proper fundamentals of riding a motorcycle.. I learned some really bad habits on my own throughout the years and my body has paid the price.
How did someone as "girlie" as you get into moto? Colleen Asch, ASterisk
I was and still am a tomboy.I learned when I was 7 in Kennedy Meadows, CA. My parents had some friends with sons who had 1975 Honda xr75's!! I have been hooked ever since and still riding at the age of 42!
Why don't you race anymore? Mike Bierman, SRA
Priorities. I train on a full time basis and when I have a few hours of free time, I spend it riding or mountain biking.
Is it difficult to show people mx skills? Can't just anyone show their friends or family. how to ride better?
I am not sure if difficult is the word. I would say more of a skill that has to come from within you. To have the ability to communicate effectively and to be able to observe a riders characteristics, personality, mentality...etc.. this is a huge factor in training and training. Well how do I know this??? Because I have trained with many people and what I have learned from Mike Fedorow and what it really entails to be the best trainers in the industry is a comparison to a professional football coach. It is more than showing someone how to shift or stand up.. You will have to come take a class to find out exactly what I am speaking of.
