February and March practice at the Shingle Springs, CA 1/8 mile home track went well. We gained alot of experience with applying different styles and advice to this track during test and tune days. It seemed like we were practicing almost every weekend. A new exhaust system was purchased and installed on the YFZ450, cam and rejetting followed. The power increase was very impressive. March ended with myself having the feeling that I could dominate on any given track.

April 5th '09' open practice day at Lodi cycle bowl was a humbling reality check. Never even seeing a 1/4 mile bluegroove track until that day, I showed up outgunned and unprepared for what I was about to experience. The difference between an 1/8th mile cushion short track and a 1/4 mile bluegroove track is like night and day. Every rider there pulled away from me in the straights gaining distance with every lap. No matter how hard I pushed, I fell further and further behind. This is one of the most frustrating feelings in racing. Now it seems that more horsepower is needed this next month.

June 6th Clements, CA 1/8th mi. cushion track was very rutted and inconsistant during practice but started to come around towards the end of the evening. The quad ran very strong at this event. I dominated in qualifying, only to lose the holeshot in the first turn to Brian Cassatt in the main event. For the ten laps in the main I was in Brian's shadow, breathing down his neck, just waiting for an opening to make my move, but the opportunity never came. Weber Racing ended the night with a second place and a satisfied feeling of personal performance.
