Overview

How I got started

I started as trail riding mountain bikes at an early age which progressed into freeriding. After that, I got into motocross where I experienced the pro track series throughout the Northeast. I also tried the local cyclocross series but found it dull in comparison to the challenges and excitement of competitive downhill racing and riding.

Goals for the Future

I am moving into the Junior X class and establish myself as a competitive top-ranked rider before moving onto the Pro class which would be my ultimate goal. This upcoming 2009 season, I plan on training hard and doing more then one series. I will be competing in the Diablo Domination Amateur Series, then followed by Gravity East Series, Campmor H2H Cross-Country Series, with my biggest events being the Diablo US Open Race, Whiteface 5K DH, & hopefully the Canadian Cup.

Bio

What inspires you to compete?

The speed and rush you get when barreling down the side of a mountain which requires split second decision making to maintain intact.

Describe your style...

Would have to be "Mick Hannah smooth". If I need to go fast in a situation, I grew up racing with clipless pedals & stayed with them for DH. I don`t throw my legs out in corners MX style alot because I ride with alot of body movement to get the bike to go where I want. I like the more technical tight lined courses.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I practice on various road gradients to build stamina and overall fitness. I ride a bike every day, whether it's Downhill, Cross-Country, Freeriding, Road Training, or just having fun doing urban style riding. During the week a do atleast an hour of hill climbs with a 30lbs+ freeride bike. On weekends its either racing or both days doing Downhill runs @ Diablo or riding 2-3 hour XC rides.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I would love to get a job in the bike industry. If i can't make World Cup status, becoming a bike representative or working for a bike manufacturer would be just as satisfying.

Employment / Experience Summary

Over the past  3 winters, I have been a snowboard instructor at the local ski resort (Mountain Creek) which allowes me to finance some of my equipment purchases once the bike season rolls around.

Competitive Highlights

I started riding Downhill in late 2006 season (August.) I completed 2 Dh races where I finished 6th in my first and 4th in my second. In September I broke my collarbone and now have a plate and 8 screws happily inbedded in my shoulder area.  2007, I started off the year competing in XC racing as well as DH. I finished out my '07 solid with winning the Overall series for my XC and a couple good finishes in DH, such as 24th overall at the USOPEN of Mountain Biking in the Amateur class and 1st in Sport at the Whiteface 5K Gravity Race. I rode for fun everyday but for the upcoming 2008 year, I am committed to nearly 20 races for Downhill including out in Northstar, Canadian Cups, Gravity Series, Diablo Series, And the covanent USOPEN!
