I was just looking at pictures from Germany and saw one with you and your brother in the background at the track. A random search found your profile. I've never forgot your mom taking me to the track. Looks like you're doing well. My 10 year-old started racing this Aug and has me racing cruiser at Oldsmar, FL.

Ed,
It's great to hear from you. I am still racing. After we left Germany in 1985, we moved to Rockville, MD so we could be close to Rockville BMX. Mike and I rode for Rockville BMX for three years (while I was in high school). In our last year we combined with a small bike shop team called Wheel Power to compete at NBL nationals (that team had Allen and Brian Foster. Brian Foster is a 3-time X Games Medalist and former AA Pro. Allen was also a AA pro, though that was several years later after we were team mates). After high school, I stopped racing BMX and moved to Tucson, AZ to attend the University of Arizona. I have stayed here ever since. In 1994, a new BMX track opened close to my house. I went by to check it out and got the racing bug again. I have raced off and on since then. My daughter now races as well and my son wants to race. We have some great tracks out here in AZ so if you can make it out here look me up (There will be three nationals in AZ in 2009--2 ABA and 1 NBL. Check the schedules). Hope to see you at the races!
BTW, do you have any of the videos that your dad taped of us at the track? I have one but it is of the indoor track. Send me your email when you get the chance. Mine: rizonracer@comcast.net |
