Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

I am inspired to compete to see how my hard work and training compares to others. This also encourages me to continue to train to stay fit and healthy.

Why do you like this sport?

I like this sport because the payoff is immediate, if you work hard you can achieve your goals. This sport is also very family oriented and when you go to a weekend race it feels more like a campout, which is great for my family.

Describe your style...

I have been told many times that I am a very good starter. So I would have to say that I am a fast starter and then just try to maintain thru the race.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I train 3-4 times a week. I do this by riding my road bicycle anywhere from 20-30 miles at a time and also lifting weights. Along with this, I try to ride my dirtbike twice a week.

Why do you compete?

I comptete because I like to see where I stand against others. Knowing that others are trying to win the same thing you are is very exciting.

Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I got started in MX by my dad in 1981. He bought me a 1981 RM60 and it just continued from there. I took a break from racing from 1988 to 2001 due to school and a career. However, in 2001 I got the racing bug again and purchased another bike and began to race and have been doing so every since.

List your competitive highlights:

My highlights would have to be placing 4th at the World Fire & Police Olympics in Quebec City Canada in 2005. I also placed 2nd in Indiana in the +30B State series in 2004. Along with those I have won the Indiana Fire & Police MX series in the +30A in 2007, 2008.

What are you planning for next season?

Next season I would really like to qualify for Loretta Lynn's in the +30. I would also like to repeat as champion in the Indiana Fire and Police MX series and travel to Ohio and win the Ohio Fire and Police MX series in the +30A too.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment so far would have to be the 4th place at the World Fire and Police Games in motocross. I competed against fire and policeman from all over the world and finished 4th among all of them.
