What you should know about Xavier

Xavier Zayat was born on September 14, 1997 in New York. He has been riding for about 7 years and has been racing since 2007.Xavier has had the urge to race since he was 1 1/2, always sitting on his dad's bike, making those engine sounds. He got his first PW50 when he was 3. He then crashed into the railroad while attempting to turn a year after. It was then on he knew he wanted to be a road racer.Without ever riding a bicycle, he started motocross, moving on to a CRF50 and stunting with it for a period of time. In 2006, he got his first minimoto. Xavier and his family hunted down CAPRA/CAMRA, TSMMR, (two regional clubs) and USMGP (a national club). And began racing in 2007. He has been racing minimotos for the past two years, and finishing in the top four of each of the championship standings.

2008   This season, he has improved incrementally and literally dragging his elbow to sit at pole position for those many races and getting closer and closer to the yearly title. Including flattrack, motocross, and racing a metrakit 85cc, he has been pretty busy converting to shifter bikes, practicing to compete in the WERA Formula 80 class and Superbike 50 class. He will be racing in the Northeastern and possibly Mid-Atlantic classes.

2009   Xavier has officially moved up to shifter bikes, racing in several NJMiniGP races. He's moved up from the kids class to join the big boys in some action-packed races. He's also moved to a Honda RS125 to bring his skills to the next level. Competing in select USGPRU, WERA, and CCS races, he is looking forward to this stage in his career.

Q&A - Personal

Why do you like this sport?

I like Road Racing because every man is for himself: you don't depend on anyone to choose for you. It's also very fun.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be an engineer (motorcycles, cars, etc.) and a motorcycle racer.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Yes, I do train on most of my spare time. Almost every weekend I have a race. If I don't have a race, we go to the dirt track and tear it up. If not, I study.
