I LOVE Sagebrush! But, it didn't love me this time
We started out with a peleton to break the wind and passed a few guys on the way to the first climb. The course was great, although the second asphalt climb up was terribly long (omg! long). This was my first time on the long course; I was surprised at how big of an uphill they had added!
When I finally hit the downhill, I hit a whoops a bit fast, and a bit too far forward, catching some air (look ma, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's the dirt--ah!). I endo'd. Lying in the dirt for a brief second, I thought, where is my bike? Then it hit me--in the head. Thank God for helmets!!!!
I took a minute then hopped back on my bike. Something was different. I looked down at my front wheel, wobbling side to side, my right shifters pointing slightly more upward and the rear brake wasn't always working. I hopped off again, checking the spokes, tried to tighten one that seemed to be loose, then finished the rest of the course a bit slower than I had hoped (as though the climbs hadn't slowed me enough).
But, I finished and that's what counts! Plus, I get a new helmet-woohoo! The carnage to my bike made me want to cry though I think I'll get some training wheels for the next race (hahah).
